also two games that i bounced off of but found deeply interesting and might be worth checking out, because my tastes are particular and subjective and there might be something to love. character limits are annoying me now so notes will be in alt-text

entropy - very distinct party-based jrpg by the dread delusion devs. realized that its permadeath and grind was scary but it sells this gritty, surreal fantasy vibe so well. it has a lot of modern touches but that sense of fantasy that 90s WRPGs tried to reach, but with much better combat that draws from Real One JRPGs like SaGa and with blobber-style parties

Titanium Court - a narrative autobattler roguelike where you are the queen of the Fae, largely against your will, and everybody is a mix of fantastical and Seinfeldiam. great music and artwork, i just am super picky about roguelikes and didn't jive with the gameplay, which it expects you to engage with a lot!

Qliphah In Providence's Shadow is a FuRyu game in all but name and feels like a PSP title from fifteen years ago (/pos) (/neg). It is not going to be anybody's favorite, but it's Interesting and is nice if your diet gets too samey. Janky otaku schlock is like a gastrolith for true connoisseurs.

Jenny The Witch is an indie character-action game that is built around having no lockon and asking you to juggle between aimed range attacks and melee attacks, with juggle combos being quite hard to set up at first. it's really rewarding to come to grips with it all!

Elfie: A Sand Plan is a super relaxing indie puzzler that has this great DS-game vibe while being absolutely adorable. It takes quite a while to ramp up but as somebody who usually bounces off of puzzle games, I appreciated that, and the tone is so comforting that it feels like a warm hug.
