This development brings up a lot of complex feelings for me, because the fear of my parent being dehumanized and harmed made it impossible for me to come forward, and while deplatforming is reasonable, that is the side of the conversation I have been seeing more of. either way, i just wish anyone cared about prevention and consent education. it seems like we all grieve after the fact but we aren't as interested in healing the brokenness in our culture. but hey, i'm doing plenty of grieving myself.

one more thing i will say is that i grew up in abuse, and i notice how i cannot get people to believe me when i say that the physical beatings were more traumatic than the sexual violence, and how much more outrage i get on behalf of the first part than the second, and the physical abuse gets shrug

i guess i broadly take issue with the idea that kind of sits at the back of peoples' minds that rape is worse than death, because there is sometimes an unspoken assumption that a rape survivor is 'impure' and 'ruined'? not accusing anyone of saying this

hold onto a credit card but way more complicated. it's the result of my yearslong effort to find a free way to break my scroll addiction without paying a subscription and i wish they would make it easy 🥲 but the digital wellbeing app is super easy to defeat and i always do 😭

the idea with the envelope is that only You would have the password to the fake account to change the settings if you ever wanted to, they would just have the envelope (in a closet idk), instead of the account being connected to their google account. it's kind of the equivalent of having a friend

possible to set it up so it DOESN'T share that datawith the other account. A summary of my 'best' solution: You can set up a google sockpuppet, hook it up to your main google, customize, and give a trusted loved one the password in a sealed envelope. Or there are quite a few paid apps to do this.

I have gone so far as to give my partner parental controls. They offer unparalled features for free, the rest are paid and the open source options are generally easy to defeat. If you can find someone you trust to hold onto the password, or even just put it in an envelope that you need to ask for,
