Thrilled to be published on @inksweatandtears.co.uk this week - one of my favourite poetry magazines. Please do give my new poem ‘Hiking’ a read.

In the U.K. it’s normally weather for ducks. But this morning, it’s weather for MF polar bears. Wearing ushankas. 🐻‍❄️
A very cold landscape outside of my window. Frost sweeps the ground and all cars are frozen, unmoved. There’s a house with all the curtains closed. And I don’t blame them. Dean it’s cold.

Quotes by My Wife (the real #poet in our relationship): Number 1 Whilst giving her a shoulder rub as she works: 💬 “Oooo it feels like a belly scratch to my soul. I love it”.

Excited to start a new weekly series of posts featuring great #writing spots I’ve visited. Keen to scout out some amazing ones this year ✍️ I’ll start with the OG spot: My home office 😃 #poetrycommunity - tell me any more amazing places I should visit for a day of scribbling 👇
A side view of an office on a sunny January day. The light shines through bifold shutters onto an old wooden desk, which has an open MacBook screen and a cricket ball on top of it. Some poetry books are behind the laptop, including books by Brian Patten and James Fenton. There is also a cosy cosy blue chair to the right, awaiting to be sat in by a handsome British writer.

Pray for the person who had this bad a start to their Boxing Day hike 😬 🙏
The muddiest trainer the world has ever seen abandoned on a very wet bench. In the background is a large muddy puddle. The mud in the puddle and on the abandoned are the same dark yellow colour.

Heavy snow. Cosy pubs. Cute little Doggos. What’s not to live about the Yorkshire Dales?
A snowy landscape in Yorkshire against grey and snowy skies. Me in an old pub sneakily taking a photo of a sweet small dog, looking happily at the camera. Think it wanted the attention really.

#Poetry and #writing squad - I’ve got a fever. And the only prescription…is finding more amazing poets, writers, literary magazines etc to follow on BlueSky. Do you have any recommendations? Even if you want to shamelessly plug yourself - I’m all ears.

Well, it's about time I shared an early poem of mine. Heads up. It's a bit emo. #poetry
No more - a poem by Alex Scarborough

no more fish and chip Fridays no more Sundays in bed
no more slap-happy Saturdays leaving us sore in the head
we used to be drunk on love soused on each other’s allure
but the haze that used to blind us blinkers our vision no more

whatever happened to adventures
we used to embark on at the quays?
& how are we too old for artless food fights
by the tills at Sainsbury's?

I miss our salsas in the kitchen
& the lamplight serenades
we used to jump on trains to nowhere
& take sick-note holidays
but now the glee of feeling fancy-free
no longer swells our cores
& so this Catherine wheel of highs
will spit out sparks no more

There is an image next to the poem of a man in camo trousers, black hi-top trainers and a black jumper holding a big old vodka bottle. He is also wearing a fluffy panda head, masking his whole face. He is probably trashed.

So…todays been a productive #poetry writing day 😬
A computer screen with Microsoft word open. The document is blank. With no poems on. Nightmare.

#Poetry Squad. I'm looking for poetry books to get my family for Christmas. But they all don't really read poetry... So, any books that will make them realise poetry is awesome sauce. Any recommendations? Please and thank you in advance.

Me looking for other poets and wordsmiths on Bluesky. Would love to meet some keen #poetry beans and scribblers on here. If you're out there, let's follow each other.
A senior woman wearing a light blue jumper and glasses looked fantastically bemused at a computer screen. I think she has just found something raunchy.
