RIP, Richard Tapia! I recall his recounting of his mother's teachings & I hope that I can continue to live by them, just as he did: 1) Be proud; 2) Believe that you can (sí se puede); 3) Demonstrate good work habits; 4) Strive for global excellence. Richard's testimonio: shorturl.at/7KYjK #MathSky

Me as an undergraduate when I first met Richard Tapia at the 2011 SACNAS National Conference.

Richard and me at the 2021 Blackwell Tapia Conference at SLMath/MSRI.

Happy to have had friends and colleagues from Harvey Mudd, Pomona College, and Cal Poly Pomona over at my house to welcome my friend, Federico Ardila, to the area!

Sharing another new paper posted to the arXiv (arxiv.org/abs/2411.18695)! Joint work with students E. Lee from 🇰🇷 & Z. Wang from 🇨🇳 who took my graduate algebraic combinatorics class in spring ‘23 as exchange students when I was a postdoc at UC Berkeley. Glad it’s finally completed and written up!

New paper on arxiv (arxiv.org/abs/2411.17812)! Joint work with Juan F. Pulido and José L. Ramírez from 🇨🇴. We study a new class of polyominoes, called p-Fibonacci polyominoes, defined using p-Fibonacci words. #MathSky

The 3-Fibonacci polyominoes of length 4.
