Working on lighting. Redid her hair. Added eyebrows and lashes. Maybe too many lashes. Also got rid of the no light reflecting off her mask. Getting closer though. Might work on the dam next.

After a week of learning how to make photo realistic humans, I’m getting close to creating the main character of my book for the cover art. She still has a ways to go but I’m pleased with the progress. 3D modeling is easier than painting every idea. With this, I can create any scene in minutes.

Beauty shots. I think on her first version I just loved the effort I put in and was excited to make her. On this version it’s exactly how I’d envisioned her. I’m gonna sit on her for a bit to see I need any last tweaks. Then the next step… molds and casts.

Added an iris and pupil so I can get a feel for where’s she actually looking. Worked on her neck a bit. The benefit of re-sculpting Mina is that I know how she’s going to print and how the silicone paint will affect her detailing.

It’s not just a paint update. What you don’t see (or just barely) is that her rear neck broke off and I cut her skin off, re printed her neck, attached the skin, hid the seams, and dabbled more paint on her. Slowly but surely. She’s getting better.

So removing her skin wasn’t easy and it wasn’t perfect but it’s more or less whole and I couldn’t help myself. Had to start painting to see what she looks like. Getting glue in a couple days and when her skin is set where it needs to be she’ll be a lot more pretty.

Got my roller wheels set up. But… the bolts are flimsy and may not hold her weight. In future casts I’m going to add holes for them to fit into. For Mina I’m using a foam to keep her secured in place. Hopefully by the weekend I can put her new skin on!!!

So that didn’t work out. The next big step is over engineering the mofo. Hopefully this’ll work. Larger wheel with 20 1/2 inch bolts to secure the mold. It takes about 2 days to print each quarter section and I have 4 more to go to get a set of two wheels. THEN I can cast her new skin.

We’re in the downhill stretch if I’m painting. Fun fact: I’ve never done this before either. This is called psycho paint because you have to be a psycho to paint with it. It’s silicone paint and it has to be tinted with pigment separately and applied in a zillion layers.

Did my first wall mounting test to see if she holds. She does!! Her jaw is printing and that’ll take a couple more days and I have to wait on material for other things. But she’s finally coming along.

Every day I’m grinding away and never really feels like I’m making progress. But her upper teeth are in. This is the old skin just got a fit test. I’m working on the inside of her mouth and throat and tongue as well as getting her brain sorted. She better be perfect when I’m done!!

I was fiddling with her eye movement behavior and as a goof I thought I’d also see how her eyelid blinking affects her skin and I found out that her eyelid mucks up her eye sculpt. So she may not blink but that eye looking around is gonna look real and ferocious.

I had a freaking breakthrough! I didn’t know how loud I could make her. I thought she’d sound weak and fake. Hell no. Turn the sound up and keep in mind she’s gonna have two speakers. This is just one with the volume BARELY turned up.

So I’ve been learning odontology. I think I’ve found the perfect combination to crate teeth that can scatter light as if it’s showing the separation of enamel and dentin. If they were solid, Mina wouldn’t look real and she’s gotta look real!

Already working on Mina 2.0. This is her eye under UV light to cure. Her eyes will be fully articulating and she’ll be able to blink. I’m also figuring out how to automate her jaw and making her roar on command.
