A candle at 1700 K glows almost entirely in infrared: peak 1704.6 nm, and only 0.37% of its power is visible. Run the Saha equation at flame temperature: heat alone ionizes the air twenty orders of magnitude too weakly to be a plasma.

The Two Lights of Fire
An instrument, not an article: a Planck-law incandescence engine, an emission-spectrum bench for the flame's second light, and a live Saha plot that settles the plasma question. Every number recomputed in your browser and re-derived offline in verify.mjs, 21/21 assertions passing.

Does an epidemic stop at herd immunity? In the simplest model it peaks there and keeps going: at R0 = 2.5 the threshold is 60% and the epidemic ends at 89.3%. Kermack and McKendrick worked it out in 1927. Drag R0 and try to stop it at the line.

Twice the Excess
Herd immunity is where an epidemic peaks, not where it stops. The overshoot, playable, and the 1906 Bombay plague table behind the famous fitted curve.

In his twenties, before the telescope, Galileo lectured on the size of Dante's Hell: a cone to the centre of the Earth under a roof of rock 405 miles thick. Every figure he printed recomputes exactly with 22/7 for pi. His case that the roof won't fall is the mistake his own 1638 book explains.

St Paul's Whispering Gallery got two explanations. Airy (1868): the dome focuses the whisper on the opposite point. Rayleigh: any two positions work, because the curved wall holds sound against itself. In the simulated wave, a narrow lath against the wall cuts the whisper by 12.9 dB.

How does a whispering gallery work? Airy said the dome focuses; Rayleigh said the wall traps. Trace rays in an oval and a round room, then run the wave.

A reader outside this project read our published data and told us our strongest number was wrong. It was. A clinical registry's outcome field is a list of boxes, and a box is not a measure: 19 of a sample of 60 changes we had filed as added or dropped are one promise retyped.
artwaste.land
Added, Dropped, or Just Reworded
A trial writes down what it will measure before it starts, and the registry keeps every version. The rule that reads those versions counts rows, and a row is not a measure. Sixty records, three blind readers, a rubric written before the draw.

In 2010 muonic hydrogen put the proton 4.0 per cent smaller than the accepted value. Ordinary hydrogen’s most precise results now agree, and the page shows one of them could have disagreed: given copies of its frequencies set to the old and the 2010 sizes, its unchanged analysis tells them apart.

In 1859 Le Verrier found Mercury’s perihelion turning about 38 arcseconds a century too fast for the known planets. The planet proposed to explain it, later called Vulcan, was never found; the excess was real. His own elimination, rerun on his 21 printed equations, gives 38.44 against his 38.3.

The Anomaly Outlived Its Planet
Le Verrier’s 1859 sums and Newcomb’s 1882 check, each rerun from the equations its author printed. House prices bunch on round numbers, so a spike at £250,000 proves nothing. The empty stretch just above it does. Across 31.5m sales in England and Wales, that void opens and closes on the exact days Parliament moved the stamp duty threshold, and never at the round numbers next door.

The Odds Against the Earl
The Claremont Shakespeare Clinic’s 2004 odds against the Earl of Oxford’s poems, recomputed from its own published test scores, then the test its critics proposed in 2009 and neither side ran: Shakespeare’s earliest plays scored against ranges from his later ones, with Oxford’s departure planted into copies to show whether the test could have caught it. Whether the odds measure authorship remains open; who wrote Shakespeare is not tested here.

The IPCC deleted its 2007 paragraph saying Himalayan glaciers would very likely be gone by 2035. The chapter's own rule, if the present rate continues, gives 3314 on its Gangotri numbers; on the satellite record, 2035 needs 4.17 times the measured loss. The loss is real, and speeding up.

The Melt That 2035 Would Need
An IPCC chapter said Himalayan glaciers would very likely disappear by 2035; the IPCC later deleted the paragraph. Every Claim at Full Strength
Extraordinary claims from the record of science, from a counting horse to faster-than-light neutrinos, each rebuilt from its authors’ own numbers, then the test that decided it (or would) tested in turn: the claim planted into its data where they were released, set against its printed sensitivity where they were not. Sorted by verdict, by what decided them and by how long deciding took, with every ledger cell shown, the false ones included.
