Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I also joined a new community for queer and trans folks at uni and I’m just happy and relieved that I now have more time for important things like this as well 0230
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I’m so relieved about this, my work days had started to become really long which affected my recovery quite a bit 110
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Up until yesterday I was under the impression that I need to get my master’s thesis done by the end of 2026, but it turns out I have at least 7-8 months to work on it which changes the game completely. Now I can actually have a healthy work-life balace 2210
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Started tracking my macros again since my uni schedule will be a bit calmer after all so I have more bandwith and energy to focus on gym training as well. Tho I’ll be eating my lunch at uni to make my life easier and I won’t be tracking that but that’s OK 1260
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yeah my skincare routine was otherwise the same I had on isotretinoin, so it was very gentle and simple. Adding this serum was the only addition to it. Now I'm back to my old gentle routine without the serum and my skin seems to have completely calmed down which is almost hard to believe 010
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yeah it messed up with the balance of my skin somehow, even though it seemed to fit my skin at first for maybe 3 months. And even after my skin started to react to it, it was rather gradual which led to me thinking my hormonal acne had started to come back 110
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 06/10/2026No fancy serums for me it seems, just a basic routine of washing and moisturing + sunscreen and that’s it 🫡 040
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 06/10/2026For those maybe having similar problems, the product I used was the niacinamide and zinc serum from The Ordinary. The 10% concentration might have also been the cause of my irritation, since it is rather strong. But I’ll stay away from niacinamide from now on just the be 100% safe 240
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yeah it is in so many products and I only started to suspect it might be causing me problems after I figured out I also get a reaction from oral vitamin B supplements, so it made sense that topical vitamin B’s could also be triggering :l keeping my skincare very basic seems to be the way to go 010
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I guess I’m somewhat allergic or at least highly sensitive to topical niacinamide (B3). I’m going to be staying far away from both topical and oral vitamin B supplements from now on that’s for sure. 1100
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I cut niacinamide out of my routine and after a few days, my skin seems to have calmed down to what it was before I started using it :l I’m glad if I finally figured out the reason behind my symptoms but at the same time, it was hard since my skin only started to react after a few months of usage :l 3201
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Kinda sucks tho if it was the topical niacinamide allergy/sensitivity all along and I end up needing to go on second round of isotretinoin to calm my skin again🫠 051
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Yeah after isotretinoin, I felt like it was a lot safer to try a new product. And since it didn’t give me problems for a few months, it didn’t seem like a likely cause for my acne. But vitamin B supplements definitely caused me problems, which led to me thinking about the topical vitamin B’s as well 020
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I hope I’m right about the niacinamide sensitivity, because while it didn’t give me problems right away, my skin was nearly flawless before I started using 1 new product containing it. My skincare routine is very basic otherwise and basically the same I had when I was on isotretinoin so 🤞 150
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I stopped taking vitamin B supplements to see if they were the culprit, but now I’m suspecting my skin might also be reacting to topical niacinamide (B3) which is in so many products these days so I’ll be cutting all of those out of my routine as well 250
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Can't wait to have clean hair for dayyyyys and be carefree when it comes to my skin. I don't miss chapped lips tho but I'll just spam lip balm like the first time so it's okay✨ 1140
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I had hoped that I wouldn't need another round of isotretinoin, but at the same time, I felt like I needed to take action since even tho I'm more confident these days even with acne symptoms, worrying about my skin had once again started to take a toll on my well-being and self-esteem so yeah 1170
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Yeah my gender clinic process and possibly starting hrt at some point are some of the reasons why I want these symptoms to go away for good. I hope this second round will be enough for me too 010
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Saw a dermatologist today because it's been 8 months now since my skin started to have some mild acne symptoms again and I'm just so done with having to think and worry about my skin, so I'll be starting a second round of isotretinoin 2430
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026The gender clinic has rather strict BMI limits for surgeries such as mastectomy, but that won’t affect me since my BMI is considered ”normal”. But If I had tried to get a diagnosis when I was 20-25kg heavier, then they likely would have told me I need to lose weight 110
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Yeah the gender clinic process is rather slow due to limited resources, so many folks get HRT through other services and pay all the expenses out of their own pocket. But I cannot afford that rn so the gender clinic was my only option (and thank you sm!) 030
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026But yeah it is problematic that you even have to think about things like this and fear that being on the spectrum could be a problem for getting a diagnosis :I I think it is so patronizing towards autistic people as well 150
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Thank you!🙏 And yeah, this next appointment seems to be about assessing my personality and whether I have any personality disorders, adhd or autism. Hopefully I seem neurotypical enough to them; at least my ex-therapist told me I didn't seem that autistic (yup) so that might be useful now 140
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026But at least the nurse knows I work out and we talked about it a little bit, so yeah I trust that they understand muscle weighs more. So I'm not too worried 2170
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I weigh around 62 kg, so I'm in the "normal" zone, but the BMI system isn't the best tool to calculate how healthy someone is, and it is extra useless when it comes to folks who work out regularly, because you can be fit with lots of muscle but the BMI calculator doesn't take that into account 2240
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I've gained some bodyweight since the last time they weighed me, but that's mostly just muscle. I hope they have some common sense when I tell them I work out and that's why the weight might climb up a bit 1210
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026It sucks to think that if I had tried to get a diagnosis 3 years ago, when I was around 20 kg heavier, this whole process might have been a lot more complicated since during this process, the folks at the gender clinic have asked me how much I weigh and weighed me several times 1210
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Luckily I now check a lot of those boxes (minus my trauma background, but that should not be a problem anymore since I've gone through years of therapy). And while the staff at the gender clinic have always treated me with kindness, getting gender-affirming healthcare just shouldn't be this hard 3230
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026This whole process has felt somewhat performative in that sense. The better off you are in life when it comes to work, studies, social relationships, mental and physical health, the higher your chances are of getting through the diagnosis process with no problems 1230
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026The gender clinic monitors things like this as a part of assessing your everyday functional capacity, which I think causes even more stress and pressure for trans folks. I told them I had worked as a freelancer + explained how COVID affected my studies, but apparently she still had doubts 1260
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Back when I started the process, the nurse had written in my files that she was a bit worried about my ability to finish my uni studies (which I thought was weird and, secondly, rather patronizing). But now I can show them my Bachelor of Arts degree + I'm going to get my master's by the end of 2026😤 0491
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 23/09/2026If everything goes smoothly, after this appointment I could only have one more psychiatrist appointment left and then I could possibly get a diagnosis, which would give me access to gender-affirming health care 4980
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Finally got a letter from the gender clinic after around 6 months of waiting, my doctor’s appointment is in December so not too far away now 51901
Runo ✦ @artvaris.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I would like to buy proper hiking shoes though, so far I've walked around in my running/walking shoes but I would like to go on day hikes in secluded nature trails and national parks where the terrain can be rather challenging 0220
