Get ready for Halloween! Available in my Etsy shop. “The Usual Suspects” theartofrobhusberg.etsy.com/listing/7828... “Fang & Friends” theartofrobhusberg.etsy.com/listing/7724... “The Menacing Topiaries” theartofrobhusberg.etsy.com/listing/8581...

“The Usual Suspects”
giclée art print

Here we have four mysterious, furtive and highly suspicious-looking black cats with glowing eyes, sitting together on a park bench, late at night, under the light from a lamppost. Are they plotting something nefarious - or just mischievous? Or, has the deed already been done? Or are they just four good friends gathered together to enjoy each other's company, who happen to look guilty?

Fang & Friends
giclée art print

This pictures Fang, a snaggletoothed tuxedo cat at home with a couple of loyal, yet creepy friends (or should I say ‘fiends’?). A claw-toothed raven is perched on Fang’s wingbacked chair whilst a fanged rat is stationed on the carpet. A dead plant resides in a vase to the right. A full moon shines through the gothic window. This particular moon however, is a giant grinning pumpkin! It’s all quite eerie, yet in a sinisterly gleeful way, suitable for year-round viewing.

Drawn in dip pen & ink with a symphony of blue & orange watercolour washes.

“The Menacing Topiaries”
giclée art print

Here we have our curious, and somewhat trepidatious cat friend from "The Forgotten Gardens" and "The Watchful Hedges" continuing her journey through the increasingly dark and
unnerving twists and turns of this meandering derelict garden. Under the light of an immense crescent moon and turbulent skies she now exits the garden, passing through towering ornate iron gates. Her adventure is now over…or is it? She has somehow felt ‘watched' all along, but this time it's even more apparent that she is indeed being observed…this time by a pair of imposing sinister black cat topiaries whose wide, bright white eyes follow her all too closely.

“New Love in the Old Park”
giclée print

Two kitties are sitting snuggled up to each other on a bench in an old Victorian park at night. They are clearly in love. Their first meeting was just in passing as they made their nightly rounds in the gardens. As the nights progressed so did their interest in each other. Curiosity led to friendship, friendship led to affection, and love slowly blossomed. They’re now inseparable and make the rounds together. This is their favourite spot, watched over by curious crows.

“Stopping By for a Rest and a Visit”

The crescent moon takes a break from its celestial journeys to rest in the arms of an accommodating tree. Whilst taking a rest it visits with a favourite earthling: a cat. The cat sits at the base of the tree in a pool of moonlight and stares up at his friend.

“Allée of Ancients”
giclée art print

This is a fanciful scene of a small cat looking up at tall, weathered, vine-covered statues of his ancient ancestors in a winding, dark alley of overgrown trees and hedges. It is an atmospheric, mysterious, yet whimsical scene.

The idea for this piece came when, on one of my walks, I spied a cat sitting in a garden, looking up an old wooden pedestal at a large, weather-worn ceramic cat perched on top. I had just received my DNA results from Ancestry.com a couple days prior. The two things instantly blended together in my mind.

This piece was rendered with dip pen and ink and Paynes Grey watercolour.

I love oak trees. You’re lucky to have them!

120

Rob Husberg @artofrob.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I’m glad you see it, because I can’t. If there is one there, it was purely unintentional. I’ve got a small bird hidden in the branches, that’s all I know. However, I’m chuffed you looked so closely!

Rob Husberg @artofrob.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Well, since you don’t get out very much, that’ll have to do.

Cha-ching! You struck an oak leaf goldmine. (Too bad about the tree losing its branches however.)

Rob Husberg @artofrob.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Do they ever land on your forehead?

You might have the collect more leaves once he’s done the them. 🍁

“Bullseye” Autumn is coming. Beware the rogue leaf! Available as a giclée art print in my Etsy shop. Find it here: theartofrobhusberg.etsy.com/listing/8763...

“Bullseye”
giclée art print

We’re in the middle of autumnal woods and the leaves are falling. Our cat friend has been enjoying a solitary, undisturbed meander amongst the trees, savoring the sights, sounds, and smells, when a rather bold leaf has the temerity to land on and stick to the middle of his face. Such undignified effrontery! He is clearly quite consternated. A rather bemused little bird looks on from a safe distance in the branches above.

Rendered in black ballpoint pen & coloured pencil on toned paper. The leaf is the only thing in the drawing that’s in colour.

That’s a wonderful compliment, thanks Paul. Unfortunately, there’s not enough material for a ‘coffee table’-sized tome, but for a storybook format, there definitely is. I need to give that some thought. 🧐

“Night Patrol”
giclée art print

Deep inside a deserted old English park very late at night, a solitary cat makes her way along a narrow, winding path. The walkway meanders through dark shadows, past bright lamplight, overgrown, untrimmed hedges and lofty drooping trees. She is on patrol of her realm. She’s looking for anything suspicious, unfamiliar or out of place. Every shadow, movement and sound holds a new mystery. She sees and hears things we never could.

Since a child, l've loved to draw cats with one protruding tooth, I love tuxedo cats, I love to carve pumpkins, and I love curly-cue lines. And my favourite colour is orange. So there you have it.

“The Forgotten Gardens”
giclée art print

Whilst exploring the English countryside our hero, a curious tuxedo cat, has happened upon, and wandered into, a surreal, seemingly abandoned, and overgrown garden. Through a gate of twisted ornate ironwork he makes his way along an undulating grassy path. He meanders past tilted, crumbling, ivy-covered cat statues as overhead eccentric, swirling trees fill the sky. Birds flit about the dense undergrowth.
Whose garden is this? Where will his curiosity take him? What awaits him as he ambles further into the gardens?

Hark! What was that?!
Our feline friend has heard mysterious noises emanating from out in the garden. Were the sounds an ‘it’ or a ‘them’? She thinks she sees shadowy shapes dart across the lawn and slither through the shrubbery. The poor cat is trapped indoors. All she wants is to leap through that window into a moonlit landscape of wild curiosity filled with unknown and unseen excitements - and perhaps an exploit or two of good old mischief.

"Mise en Scène pour la Nuit".
available as an original ink drawing and as a giclée art print

The stage has been set for the night's events. The characters involved have assembled. (Yes, I consider the crescent moon, park bench, topiary hedge, and the lamp post all as players in my
'production'.) What might transpire tonight in this hidden, lonely corner of the old park?
Are they waiting for another, as yet unseen participant to join them? You might think it unfair, but I'm leaving it up to your imagination to create the scenario and whatever story may follow. My drawings are collaborations between myself and the viewer. It takes your mind to complete them.
