Here's some more modern Noodles just for you!
A border collie posing with a globe on his head. He looks disgruntled.A stick figure holding a small table with a small tablecloth and a small lit candle on it. The table is connected to a strange-looking device that's resting on a border collie's head. The stick figure is saying "Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?"A stick figure looking at their phone, dismissively saying "Yeah, yeah. I'm sure that's fine." to a border collie who's carrying a huge sign that reads "POST ABOUT UR DATING LIFE ON WORK SLACK"A border collie looking confused at the math statement "P(A|B) = (P(B|A)*P(A)) / P(B)"

The title slides are a better representation of skill since I don't always go hard on the individual slides, since they're on-screen for so little time, usually.
Title slide for "Digging into the Matrix: Practicing Code Archaeology". Me in a jungle, uncovering the idol from the beginning of the movie UHF.Title slide for "Survival Under Fire: How to Stay Whole During Adversity". A person walking alone in a dark and dangerous woods full of glowing red eyes. Their only light is a world that's on fire.Title slide for "Leadership and the Power of Regret: Turning Emotion into Action". A person with a bag of lemons, feeding them into a sausage grinder and making lemon sausages.

This, but for drawing your own slides for talks. Here is a series of images of my slides over the years. Starting in 2017 and continuing until my most recent. Just get started. You'll get better as you go, even if you only build talks once or twice a year.

You can do it. Business Owl believes in your ability to Business.

For reasons too complicated to explain, today I was watching a Price is Right episode from September 1984 off the Internet Archive. This is Pauline, one of the first four contestants, with her custom-made shirt. A bold choice, but... I respect it.
A woman at one of the The Price is Right podiums, wearing a teal sleeveless t-shirt with stenciled lettering that reads "Bob Barker's Private Duty Nurse".

And for AMS to ARN...
An open card. The top half has a drawing - a row of overhead bins on an airplane. One of them is open, and has gravel, plants, fish, and a bubbling clam in it. The water isn't pouring out despite it being open. I'm standing in front of it, my arms wide, saying "I made a fishtank!" A shocked flight attendant is holding their hands to their head, replying "HOW?!"

The bottom part has details about the flight and the text "Thanks for dealing with everything! Even the impossible."

Here's the one for the actual flight over the Atlantic. I did four of these.
A stack of cards, open. On the left side is a drawing of me searching through an airplane galley. A flight attendant is standing next to me, shouting "Sir, it doesn't matter what you read on the Internet! I promise you, there's not a secret cheese wheel on every international KLM flight!" I reply, "You can't fool me! It's *here* and I'm going to *find* it!"

The right side has details about the flight and reads " The world's getting weirder; thanks for everything you do!"

Flying to Stockholm today. Did a card for the crew and they gave me a pair of wings and some snacks (not pictured, snacks).
A blank card with a drawing on the left and text on the right. The drawing on the left is of two people, one a flight attendant and one me in an Evel Kneivel outfit. The flight attendant says "I've asked the captain and he said FAA regulations prohibit him from 'doing a sick double loop-the-loop," even if one of the passengers "is totally ready for it." I reply, "What if we put it to a vote?" The flight attendant responds, "He said if you asked, to say 'My plane is not a #@&*$ democracy.' Now please take your seat." I reply, "Aww..."

The text on the right says "Thanks for getting us there safe and sound!" and has other identifying information about the date and flight.A gin and tonic, with a Delta wing pin in front of it.

Did a warmup for all the slide drawing I have to do today, inspired by the real events that woke me up this morning.
A hairy woodpecker (the species) perched on a chimney vent on a roof, hammering at it. The chimney is emitting "DTF" in morse code. The woodpecker is thinking "I'm gonna get laaaaaiiiiid!!!!!" There's a human dressed in a blue hoodie and green cargo shorts (and no shoes) on the ground below the roof, throwing a clod of dirt at the woodpecker and angrily shouting "STOP BANGING MY HOUSE!"

For the first time ever, I did some "studies" of how I wanted to depict and lay out a certain slide in the new talk.
A yellow spiral notebook covered with doodles of two people shaking hands. In the first doodle, their wrists are joined by manacles. In most of the others, they are surrounded by a portal of some kind, with varying visual effects and magical sigils around the border. In most of the doodles, tentacles are emerging from the portal, or from nearby smaller portals. There's also a smaller sketch of a squid's tentacle (which it has 2 of, as opposed to its arms, which it has 8 of, which are what most people call tentacles).

133 slides left on the Boredom-Driven Development talk. Here's some of today's output.
A drawing of a person at a buffet, picking out something bun-like while saying "A little of this and a little of that..." to themselves. Text on the right side says "Resume-Driven Development".A drawing. On the left is a person carrying in a 20% wedge from offscreen. On the right are two people carrying out 80% of a circle that is labeled "MVP" but there is masking tape over that and the word "DONE" is written on the tape. A fourth person is standing between the other people, saying "We won't be needing THAT!" to the person carrying in the 20%.

I have started working on slides for the new talk (on Boredom-Driven Development). This is the first one I drew - slide 5 (of currently 187, which is Too Much Slides and I need to do another editing pass).
A stick figure human looking at a laptop showing their email, which is filled with emails about JIRA tickets. The open email is about a login button and the text reads "As a user, I want to click button and has log in to app."

The person is sighing, with a sweatdrop on their head.

I used to think I understood Dada and surrealism. Then the world got very dumb very quickly (or exposed what was already there depending on your perspective). Now I realize I never understood at all. The only way to defuse a viral narrative is to reject narrative itself. (Credit to Bill Griffith)
