I will never use this product. But someone I'm friends with might. Which means the agent will have access to any information about me that that friend has. Which raises a whole new set of issues around privacy and how much people share.

Excellent, transparency: "Roy has proposed teaming up with City Controller Kenneth Mejia, a progressive official who created a liability dashboard that visualizes the city’s payouts and has undertaken a 'risk management audit' to try to identify the patterns and warning signs that precede lawsuits."

Great point from El-Sayed--investment in schools, infrastructure, health care creates a lot more jobs than billionaires do investing their money in the stock market. Taxing billionaires doesn't harm the economy, it helps it.

Screw Klein (see @karlbode.com's discussions) but excellent point from El-Sayed. I just wonder how many adults are incapable of accepting the truth.

I've been to China. Panda Express is garbage. Also, no way in hell has trump ever eaten their broccoli beef. You know the only thing he eats there is orange chicken. That and fortune cookies, which he no doubt also thinks are from China.

Meanwhile the real miraculous future tech is solar & mRNA vaccines: preserving the planet and curing cancer. But we’re supposed to hand everything over to malevolent peeping toms and resource oubliettes for an ill defined ‘pay no attention to the man behind the curtain’ progress. It isn’t rational.

As a pragmatic centrist, I read the Niemöller poem differently. After each group mentioned I pencil in what percentage of the population they are, and if it’s a small number I cross off their names as disposable. Poetry is fine but math wins elections!!

Even if you have no problem getting measles yourself, not getting measles means you won't likely infect anyone else, including those who do not have the option of getting vaccinated. Truly a sociopathic take.

The AGs should go slowly here. A settlement will be extremely unpopular. And it’s especially silly to settle before the election. Ds likely will have more federal oversight power and more freedom to speak openly against the merger post election.

There's no way I would have gone to grad school for microbiology if I were an undergrad now. I took that training and went into the private sector. Those who caused all this are utter morons. It's not good for academia. It's not good for industry. Not for students, CEOs, the avg person, anyone.

It's acceptable and even desirable to walk up to adults who listen to their phones without headphones out in public and punch them in the face, right? If they don't want to be constrained by a social contract, they shouldn't reap the benefits either.
