Saw a Ctenucha rubroscapus a bit ago. Cool moth.

Tanoak (Notholithocarpus densiflorus), some yards away from that madrone. Also usually firewood on the North coast, it burns hot. This tree also likely to get choked by redwood and fir in the next couple of decades, though Tanoak are shade tolerant.

Pacific madrone (Arbutus menziesii) in a very young redwood forest. Madrone is typically used for firewood on the North coast - you can't dry it without it cracking. This one will get choked out by redwood and fir in a decade or so. Beautiful tree though.

Sequoia sempervirens, California redwoods. These are smallish, less than 100 years old. It's already pretty clear under them though - their canopy blocks sunlight, and surface feeding roots make it tough for anything else to grow under them.

This is a remarkably dishonest statement from a justice whose appointment was rushed through the Senate at the 11th hour right after McConnell sat on Obama's selection of Garland for almost a year.

Everything depends on context. I would certainly not have any concerns about giving the middle finger to the snares of corruption. But vulgarity in the cause of overbearing hubris is not consistent with the Way of Jesus.
