Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

Knowing how to set up a harness for a stack you do not know is the new meta skill IMO. I don't know the API for Agent Studio, but I know how to set up deterministic gates for json schema and provide token efficient context. I think this is the future (..for better or worse)

I recently shipped a production grade call center flow using GECx Agent Studio (like n8n for agents built by google). I spent all my focus setting up my harness correctly for context and guardrails and idomatic best practices. Almost zero time learning the nitty gritty config api.

Going from writing the code ourselves to managing agents feels a lot like athletes who retire and become coaches. Your job is now to give the agent all the correct guidance and tooling it needs to perform at its best.

Agreed. I'm not normally a fan of oversimplification, but this place just feels like leftist X. Personally, I vote progressive but I don't make it my entire personality and I try to meet people where they are, not corral the pitchforks against people (unless they're being racist assholes).

Just so it's clear, I haven't written code by hand since last summer. You're not alone, Rick. I love to code. It's a craft I have developed over nearly 2 decades. I mourn the world that isn't there anymore. But, I'm not an idiot. I didn't stay employed in tech for that long by digging in my heels.
