Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

Skydivers alert emergency crews, assist after plane crashes near East Troy airport
Four people were aboard the single-engine plane when it went down in a cornfield near Carvers School Road in East Troy at about 1:30 p.m.

Going from writing the code ourselves to managing agents feels a lot like athletes who retire and become coaches. Your job is now to give the agent all the correct guidance and tooling it needs to perform at its best.

I think the bigger flex is not success, it's public bravery. Everyone who is successful looks like a genius in hindsight. That's the easy part. The hard part is posting your work despite the incoming deluge of ReplyGuys™ No matter if you fail, just posting your work puts you among the elite.

After spending some time back in California, I'm even more convinced of US east coast supremacy. I love this state, but how do they let the east coast get a 3 hour head start?? Let's go we got stuff to do.

I noticed that Bifrost uses one of my absolute favorite patterns, micokernal, aka plugin-architecture. If you're building a product or ecosystem that is meant to be extended, this is where you use the same plugin api to provide first party core features as you expose for other plugin authors.

You can be both bummed out by this, and also see it as where you need to take your skills if you choose to remain in the industry. Two things can be true. "Let go, or be dragged." Does it suck? Yes. Is it true? Yes.

Just so it's clear, I haven't written code by hand since last summer. You're not alone, Rick. I love to code. It's a craft I have developed over nearly 2 decades. I mourn the world that isn't there anymore. But, I'm not an idiot. I didn't stay employed in tech for that long by digging in my heels.

I have to agree. Dealing with people that have zero capability to navigate nuance is exhausting, on both right and left. Between this place and X, I think I'm just going to spend more time in the workshop.

In a past life, I loved writing so much it briefly lured me into a path to journalism. My writing style has always been a melodic song then jab style. Now, my style has been appropriated by AI. But, I've been writing with boxing gloves on for decades. No plans to stop.

Global news available 24/7 may seem like a technical marvel, and it is. But, it is not good tech for a 10,000-year-old brain. There is a drastic misunderstanding of what good tech is. If good tech does not ultimately serve the well-being of the human end user, then it is not good tech.

There's an extra token cost for writing internal corporate communications with AI. There's the initial cost of writing your slop novel. Then the cost of me asking an LLM for the tl;dr. Perhaps, we can just be better at clear writing and we won't need to translate things through LLMs?

3rd weekend in a row with zero screens or social media. Just hobbies and local meetups. The evidence is mounting to a very inconvenient truth that none of these online "communities" are real (this timeline you're scrolling included). It takes in-person meetups to make make this most obvious.
