Cohost became an important repository for contemporary computer science educational material.

Cohost user Ash posts a "guide to anthropomorphizing computers", with the incorrect technique identified as "Sorry if our AI chatbot hallucinates things that never happened. We're going to teach it that lying is bad" while the proper green check mark method is "This is my protogen taur based on the Compaq Deskpro 386. It loves to say beep and needs repairs 3-4 times per week"

the chinese text on the left one says PROGYNOVA Estradiol valerate tablets, while the one on the right says Debian GNU/Linux install media

fastfetch is probably a good 30MB itself plus dependencies but i inlcude it just because i can for now ill remove it later

artemis @artemis.evernet.social · 28/09/2026

i managed to pack it smaller and working later but this is generally what it is so far

booted system with a fastfetch, detailing system spec

key points in spec:
Disk 536MB (rootfs)
Memory (920MB used)

of which in the slim version became 200 something megabytes and 600 something megabytes respectively

Screenshot of configuring Qemu to compile
most features disabled with the occasional enabled
hence its one yes with a cascade of No

to anyone living in my walls and curious as to why you heard a muttered “hell yeah” at 1:50am just had a big success in a little personal project of mine the system booted fine and while a bit unstable now i have most of a whole computer packed into 600MB of ram ready for stage 2 <3

*tries to install app again with new config* wow this is actually so much smaller than before and pulling in so many less dependencies! (forgot to actually enable a key part of it that i needed)
