Last full day in the house. Trying not to have big feelings about it. We move forward.

Pro tip for retail interactions: become big and intimidating to win

A sketched scene of two anthro red pandas raising arms to be big and intimidating at each other. One is saying, "I want to speak to your manager." The other is replying, "I AM the manager." They are in an electronics shop and other customers mill about in the background.

Next couple weeks are gonna be the busiest and most stressful for me, so expect relative silence. I really appreciate those who've reached out to check on me.

Thought I'd pack the rest of my stuff today and instead have a throbbing occipital headache.

Anyone who's ever fixed anyone else's code has the required understanding to know LLMs are just useless toys. Anyone who understands diminishing returns knows it can't get better using pattern replication, you need to model the logic. Someone who doesn't understand both is not a good programmer.

I'll be in a better mood soon. The last bit of work on the house is done so we're free and clear for closing, and that's a load off. Once I'm settled into a new place I can start making real plans.

Look, chat, I'm not an amazing engineer. Maybe this is just the years of impostor syndrome finally proving itself right and now that the mask is off I have to grind out a living the hard way. Fine. But man, fuck this. Fuck this whole fucking wasted year.

Did you know that rats can learn to drive? Scientists have taught them to steer tiny cars for a snack. Ours are still on passenger duty, but they are getting real comfortable on a car. Rats are much smarter and more playful than they get credit for. #HeroRATs #APOPO

And look I know this is just another comorbidity of fascism but if you design anything at all please don't insist that you know what's best for everyone just because you think it's cool.

I stuck with Mac for so long because it was BSD-like and "well I -might- use Logic and Scrivener more someday" but it's getting every bit as insufferable as Windows. I already have a Debian desktop I can do 99.9% of everything I need on. Will just need to figure out streaming when I get back to it.
