There is something deeply moving about seeing Black & Latino leaders acknowledge how connected our futures are. Our joint policy agenda turns that unity into collective action & deepens our commitment to protecting democracy & civil rights. @officialmlk3.bsky.social @mifamiliavota.bsky.social

Love is not passive. Agapè love asks something of us. It asks us to see the humanity in people beyond ourselves and then act accordingly. To serve. To protect. To speak up. To make room. Love becomes transformative when we put it into practice.

You're never too young to make a difference and get involved in democracy. Young people were among the foot soldiers and leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. I believe this next generation will bring the courage, conviction, and imagination to inspire any generation to act.

Democracy is not something we simply inherit. It is something we practice. Activism is a practice, too. Every time we serve, organize, speak up, or show up for one another, we strengthen the muscles of movement-building. Legacy is built in those daily choices.

Sometimes we may feel discouraged that our vote doesn't matter, but it's actually quite the opposite. If your vote didn't matter, they wouldn't be trying so hard to make sure you don't have one. Your voice, your vote, is your power. Use it. www.cbsnews.com/news/supreme...

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families who carry that loss, and those who ran toward others in need. In our darkest moments, we’re reminded how deeply we need one another. May we honor them through compassion, service, and love for the human family.

"Freedom is not a spectator sport. You cannot watch democracy from the sidelines. You cannot scroll your way to justice. You cannot just repost your way to freedom. You cannot just wait for somebody else to save democracy that belongs to you." ~Yolanda Renee King

Dr. King was only 28 when he challenged President Eisenhower to confront the atrocities of racism in 1957. As we mark the anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1957, it’s worth remembering the courage it took for a young leader to demand more from those in power.

🛑 Voting Rights Act gutted 🛑 Mail-in voting under attack 🛑 SAVE Act threatening voter access The attacks are relentless, but so are we. Progress has always looked impossible until the people made it happen. We will not give up. We will show up at the midterms.

On Aug. 6, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law. In 2026, we're facing the total extinction of the crowning achievement of the Civil Rights Movement. We must not go backwards.

Calling all drum majors for justice! Join us for the #MarchOnWashington on Aug. 28 in Washington, D.C. As voting rights continue to face attacks, we're coming together to honor the past, confront the present, and organize for the future. The dream didn't end in 1963, and neither did the work.

Oppression has never happened by accident. It has often been written into laws, policies, and systems. If we're serious about protecting democracy, we have to understand how we got here.
