❌ AI generated slop menus with pictures that make your food look like worms ✅ scribbles on a piece of paper saying how much the soup cost

4 panel comic:
Panel 1:
A chef with a wooden spoon talks to a brown dog (bruno). He says “I have a new business!” Bruno answers “cool!”
Panel 2: he shows his menu. He says “this is my menu”. We can’t quite read what it says yet
Panel 3: a zoom in on the menu. It has just a few lines written on it. Soup: 1. Bread: 1. Soup + Bread: 2. He kept it very simple!
Panel 4: He shows Bruno a small pencil. He says “I designed it with this”. Bruno approves and goes “nice!”

Did you know you only need a small brain to make silly little drawings?

4 panel comic:
Panel 1: pink blob guy on a table, pencil in their hands. Grey circle on a piece of paper and a glass of water on the table. They say “look here”
Panel 2: Proudly, they hold up the drawing of a grey blobby character on two stick legs up in the air. The pink blob says “I drew this!”
Panel 3: Satisfied they sit back down on the table. They now go “it’s not much, but..” The grey drawing looks a bit peeved because the drawer is calling it “not much”
Panel 4: But it’s okay, because now the pink blob is very pleased finally. He says “it came from my brain!” Holding the pencil up. The grey drawing blob is happy again, too. End well, all well!

When some comics became intangible online, paper became *visible* to artists again, leading to beautiful new paper comics. Now, when some "art" becomes inhuman, *we* become visible to ourselves again. What beautiful new *human* art might be the result?

Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

To me, the problem isn't that people are on platforms, it's that they are *exclusively* on them. I think platforms are important for sharing and discovering, but you should always have an independent website and point people to it when you can. When a platform becomes "your website" it's a problem

They didn't. Defense and Resistance are still unit stats. Resilience is an attack stat that is primarily based on your resistance but can change due to certain battle conditions. Protection is the same, but for defense. Shield is not a stat, but a bonus which affects both defense and resistance.

Unused promo art of the cast of my run on the FLASH GORDON daily strip. Clockwise from top left: Adrane, Flash Gordon, Doctor Hans Zarkov, Bok, Empress Aura, Dale Arden, and Queen Fria. We also see Sky City and a couple Frigian airships.

Forgotten Comic Strips @forgottencomics.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

"Bugs" by Irving Knickerbocker, 1924-1927 December 26th, 1925 as seen in the Sacramento Bee

Comic strip "Bugs." Gags about radios. A man buys a radio for four hundred dollars, but can't pick up any stations. A neighbor lets him come over to listen to his radio, which turns out to be a custom job attached to a giant battery, capable of getting stations all the way from Peru. Strip originated by Roy Grove, and also worked on by Charles D. Small, George Swanson, Sefcik and Don Wootton.

Also, in the case of artists, we have their art. We don't need to "resurrect" them to know who they were or how they thought. We can know all of that through what they created.

Image: In a childrens library, a small boy contentedly reads a small picture book, while an angry-looking small girl storms past, carrying a very heavy book.

Caption:
Unfortunately for Charlotte, the adjudication committee decides that, for the purposes of the under-nines summer reading challenge, the six volumes of proust's 'in search of lost time' is considered to be one single narrative, whereas each of Roger hargreaves' mister men' books is a distinct work, thereby awarding the library's 'top reader' sticker to her brother Toby.

Tired of seeing people using AI to mimic (i.e. rip off) a popular artist's style for their book cover/advertisement/whatever. Can't draw or design yourself? Hire someone. And if you don't have the money to hire someone, using a program that steals from, then devalues an artist, is not the answer.

Did you know that the term “Jiggs Dinner” is derived from a comic strip, because it’s the favored meal of a certain comic strip character I wrote about last month? Neither did I, because I had never heard of it before I wrote that other post. Read about it on the blog: blog.arkholt.com/jiggs-dinner

An image of an advertisement from an old newspaper which invites you to “Try a Jigg’s Dinner — Corn beef and cabbage, tasty and economical, no bone, no waste.”

My latest cartoon for @newscientist.com. Inspired by recent news about the SpudCell. NS subscribers can read about it here: www.newscientist.com/article/2532...

Title: The artificial cell's diary

Panel 1: An oval green cell with a face opens its eyes.
Caption: Woke up to the scientists discussing whether I was alive or just exhibiting some of the symptoms.

Panel 2: The cell looks thoughtful
Caption: A bit heavy for first thing in the morning.

Panel 3: The cell eats some little dots in the liquid around it.
Caption: Had a swim, then ate some of the molecule soup that I live in. My day is pretty much all soup-based.

Panels 4: The cell looks uncomfortable
Caption: Then I began to feel rather odd.

Panel 5 and 6: the cell hseems to be splitting in two
Caption: But, I saved the big news for last:

Panel 7: The cell smiles. A new, smaller cell smiles back.
Caption: I made a new friend!
