Cypriprdium kentuckiense - the Kentucky Lady Slipper orchid. I planted one tiny seedling in our front yard the fall of 2016 and after 3 years of no flowers it really got comfortable in this spot, multiplying every season. Little things that make me happy 😊.

I may be the last one to notice, but right wing media tends to not use a subscription model. This is hugely consequential! You never see a paywall when clicking on a link from Fox News, Breitbart, One America etc., which translates into massive reach and readership of lies and disinformation.

So, with Elon Musk and his gang of oh-so-eager, off-the-books young hackers setting up shop inside the IRS, can I now expect my tax check to go directly into their pockets or is there some sort of middleman before it gets to them?

This delightful orchid, Clowesia Rebecca Northen, needs a dry rest season of 3-4 months in order to bloom. It loses all its leaves and shrivels up, with zero watering, and then these lovely flower stalks emerge from what looks like a dead plant, smelling like grapefruit or pink lemonade. #orchids

The blackest orchid in my collection and, as a bonus, It's also very fragrant, especially in the morning. FDK After Dark 'SVO Black Pearl' FCC/AOS (Fredclarkeara - named after famed CA orchid grower Fred Clarke of Sunset Valley Orchids, who developed this unusual and beautiful hybrid). #orchids

It's the last day of Hanukkah and I just barely squeezed in a big batch of potato latkes in the nick of time. Yum yum yum 😋.

Phragmipedium Jason Fischer - a heavily awarded "lady slipper" orchid hybrid created right here in Minneapolis at Orchids Limited. This one always opens up right around the holidays and will continually bloom until mid-summer. #orchids #greenhouse #flowers

Merrick Garland, more than any other individual, held the power to save American democracy and rid the land of Trump, Gaetz, and their ilk. His utter failure to bring justice to the American people will go down in history, and not in the way he likely hoped. www.salon.com/2024/12/24/t...

Dendrobium nobile usually blooms on a couple of last-year's canes, but every few seasons it just explodes with blooms. Always in the dead of winter when it's most appreciated 💕. #orchids #flowers #greenhouse

Mornings in the solarium when the Vanda tricolor #orchid is in bloom are a very fragrant experience, with strong grape jelly perfume hitting your nose as soon as you enter.
