I single-handedly delivered 14 trailers and 6 episodes separately to 4k broadcast, 1080p broadcast, 4k streaming, 1080p streaming, and 4k VOD for my PBS series and despite being highly detail-oriented it nearly broke me. Mind you, almost no one does this ever as one person, but it’s a lot!

Extremely similar. In my scenario I turned down taking a bus 40 miles (!) away to a hotel and decided to “sleep” in the airport. Reading through that, I feel validated in my choice!

Delivery is so complicated that I’m surprised it doesn’t happen all the time. Alternatively I’d propose tiny errors no one can notice do happen all the time.

Given that in-person interactions typically illicit a higher yield of donations (both in quantity and amount donated), what do you recommend as an alternative? Asking since I’m actively seeking funders for my work 🙂

It can be hard to appreciate the vastness of just one (1) light-year. The most distant human-made object has been hurtling into space for almost 50 years, and its distance from Earth is just about to reach 1/365th of a light-year.

I believe in diversifying where critical Space and Earth Science data can come from, but not when done at the expense of critically wounding the only entity (NASA, NSF, NOAA) that can sustain decades of investment for the benefit of and ownership by the people.

Here’s what I make of it: Whether it’s Ds investing in private space to route around Rs’ fed funding cuts or Rs investing in it to enable said cuts, the outcome is the same: It gives the fed gov’t a disillusioned reason to gut budgets & kill long-term research aka the backbone of science.

New in PNAS today: we projected how climate change will reshape the body size of marine life across the entire ocean. 23,329 mollusc species, every ocean basin. The headline everyone expects is "life shrinks." The real answer is far stranger. 🧪 #marinelife www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

I'm suggesting educating yourself more about how PBS is a decentralized organization, unlike Fox or CNN. Also, understanding that journalism is a human endeavor like all others, and shirking off all journalists because some specific ones pissed you off 10 years ago is just self-serving your ego.

The Korean lunar orbiter Danuri succeeded in capturing the total eclipse observed on the European continent on the 12th (local time). The part of the shadow that touches the surface of the moon (top left) is a total solar eclipse. /Photo: Korea Aerospace Research Institute

I hate that we have let the nastiest racists on earth define and redefine our language. From "woke" to "DEI." Trump's policies are not anti-DEI. They are racist. US firms did not abandon DEI policies. They fired competent black women in droves on the basis of race and sex.

This is from the North American Monsoon which is on schedule and can affect NorCal from time to time with lightning and moisture. What’s more attributable to being messed up is recording the highest July tide for SF ever which is more directly linked to climate change.
