First time shooting on film! Found a camera from the 70s while helping my parents clean out their attic and told me I could have it. Lot of lessons learned. Figured Kodak #gold200 was a good start

Folks reasonably assume footage from behind-the-scenes featurettes are "truth", but it is now standard practice for studios to alter footage from "making-of" videos. (These gray screens are actually blue screens on the set of "Superman" (2025).)

My advice for anyone who wants to get into VFX is that you should prepare to fully understand that 99% of people who talk about VFX on the internet have zero clue what they're talking about and there's nothing you can do to educate them :)

Every time someone repeats the totally incorrect myth that "CGI" is cheaper than practical effects—it's not and that's a ridiculous statement—'because "CGI" isn't unionized,' they're unwittingly giving ammunition to studios who are arguing that unionization would be bad for the industry (it's not).
