Pleased to be involved in this important film, shining a light on the reality of Scottish salmon farming. What happens beneath our lochs matters. We need urgent action to protect wild salmon, our waters and the welfare of farmed fish. youtu.be/d1i3-KHNvb4?...

Gaslit: The hidden truth about salmon farming in the UK
It's not Scottish. It's not wild. It's not even pink. Farmed salmon is sold to us as a health food from glittering lochs and heather-clad hills. Underwater, it's a different story. Up to 77 million…

☕ Coffee, cake and a chat can make a real difference in helping support people living with cancer and their families. I was pleased to join Macmillan Cancer Support at Holyrood this week to raise awareness of this year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning on 25 September.

What a joy to open the RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards Shortlisting Ceremony in Parliament last week. It was a privilege to celebrate the best of Scottish nature conservation and the brilliant people and projects doing the special work of protecting our species and habitats.

Police Scotland has declared a major incident and Nethy Bridge residents are being evacuated tonight as the Cairngorms wildfire spreads. I've written to the Cabinet Secretary asking what further support, including resilience and recovery arrangements, is now being put in place.

I've been asking the Scottish Government what it's doing about practices in the egg industry, including the de-beaking of hens and the killing of day-old male chicks. Swipe through to see the questions I've asked, and I'll keep pushing for higher welfare standards for farmed animals.
Words: To ask the Scottish Government how permitting the culling of live male chicks by maceration aligns with its stated commitment to maintaining high animal welfare standards.
Quote asking the Scottish Government what discussions it has had with poultry industry representatives about alternatives to macerating live male chicks.Question to the Scottish Government asking whether it plans to phase out or prohibit maceration of live male chicks, and if not, for what reason.Quote asking the Scottish Government whether it has undertaken any assessment of the animal-welfare implications of culling live male chicks by maceration, shown on a black speech panel over a bright yellow-green background.

☀️ Warm weather is here 🐶 Even on a "nice" day, dogs can overheat. Advice is to avoid walks in the warmest part of the day, never leave a dog in a hot car, and know the early signs of heatstroke.
Warm-weather tips for dog owners: walk dogs early morning or late evening, provide plenty of water and shade, do the tarmac hand test and postpone walks if too hot, and take extra care with flat-faced, overweight, unwell or older dogs who risk heatstroke.

Summer holidays shouldn't leave families choosing between work and childcare. The Scottish Greens are calling for universal free childcare so every child can thrive, parents can keep working, and family life is less stressful. Do you struggle to find childcare during the school holidays?

What does land reform actually mean — and why does it matter to communities? Half of Scotland's land is owned by just 408 people. Land is power, and it's time that changed. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What one change would make train travel work better for you? My folding bike has transformed my commute. I cycle to the station, take the train to Edinburgh, then cycle on to Parliament. Before, I had to leave a bike locked at the station, but now I can simply fold it up and take it with me.

Scotland generates enough wind, wave and solar to power us many times over—so why are bills still so high? Because the system delivers profits for shareholders, not lower bills for communities. The Scottish Greens are calling for community-owned energy, warmer homes, and local benefit.

Scotland’s childcare system isn't working for too many families. Maternity pay ends at 9 months, but funded childcare doesn’t begin until age 3. That leaves families facing an impossible gap. Investing in childcare is investing in Scotland’s future. 💚 #Childcare #ScottishGreens #Families

Tomorrow Scotland can ban greyhound racing for good, as the Scottish Parliament takes its final vote on @markruskell.bsky.social's bill. This cruel 'sport' results in the deaths of hundreds of dogs in the UK and leaves tens of thousands injured. It's time it was finally brought to an end.
Greyhound racing is only legal in 8 countries. Tomorrow Scotland votes to join the world in banning it. A map shows that it's legal in the US, Australian, New Zealand, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
