Hazard's departure is for the best I think, still young for a keeper and could definitely kick on still. As ever, like to remember the best in departing players and those saves v Liverpool will live long in the memory 💚

To summarise, the club's defence is "we asked the person who's resigned to tell them". Didn't check they'd been informed. Weren't present to take accountability and answer any practicalities. Blame the person who doesn't work here. It took them a day to come up with that. #pafc

In all this discussion about savings by cutting the budget of the women's team, why is nobody addressing that we're paying David Fox presumably quite a lot to do what appears to be absolutely nothing?
000
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
And, ultimately, I feel for the dedicated supporters of the women's team. Not only do they have to put up with this PR shitshow, but they've gone from such success and vocal backing for the team to it being dismantled in a few short months
020
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
The statement by the Women's team is pretty much spot on in content, tone, resonating with their audience. Might have lost their contract with Argyle but should probably replace whoever drafted that fucking email to them

Just the latest in a long series of PR own goals that have been going on for years now. What an absolutely scandalous way of communicating with your player. For the love of god, who makes these comms decisions at the club?

That rumoured WC squad would be so disappointing. If true, Tuchel's got to win - or make the final at least - or big questions will be about who was taken and who was left behind. Feels like a continuation of absolutely dire football; if so, it had better be winning football

Also, why not come forward and admit to all the other clubs I bet you spied on this year. They've *shockingly* admitted to spying against the clubs that have put evidence forward that they were spied upon. I'd bet there's more but they've not proactively admitted to those.

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 21/05/2026
Quite frankly, Southampton's statement was pathetic. You've not been fined £100m+. You broke the rules, admitted breaking the rules, and have been punished in a footballing sense. You lost the chance to play for £100m+, not the money itself. Admit who was involved and sack them.

Fans engaging in whatabout-isms etc need to consider how they'd react if their team had lost out on a chance at promotion and then found out their opponent had conspired to cheat days/weeks in advance in a premeditated way involving staff throughout the club
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 21/05/2026
Reinstating Middlesbrough the correct call here, it's not their fault that Southampton spied on them to gain an unfair advantage that may have made the difference across two legs that went to ET. Do feel sorry for Hull, too. They're also innocent victims unfairly impacted.
110
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 21/05/2026
That would mean that any club spied upon in a regular league game in future would by default gain the points potentially lost, rather than just the offending club being penalised and the victims potentially left impacted.
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 21/05/2026
I wouldn't have "kicked them out", I thought that forfeiting the first leg for a default 3-0 loss would have been the right mechanism.

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 21/05/2026
100% the right call from the EFL. Southampton institutionally engaged in premeditated attempt to gain an illegal, unfair sporting advantage in a knockout game that ultimately was so close that two teams level on points after 46 games couldn't be separated over 180 minutes

Obviously, Argyle sold more away tickets than Cardiff, but nearly double were on offer. Likewise, Exeter sold more for HP, but nearly a third more were on offer at HP.

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 07/05/2026
Argyle took more away fans to almost every L1 opponent this season: - Cardiff & Argyle + Exeter & Argyle saw both away ends sell out (indicated by black tip), so is an unfair comparison. - Bradford brought one extra fan, but Argyle visited midweek (lighter shaded bar) #pafc

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 06/05/2026
2023 and 2024 we sold 11k tickets, last year they realsed 1.5k more. They never actually confirmed how many were sold, but I heard informally that they sold all of them (making 12.5k). The comms from the club were not definitely not clear, though
010
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
Last year, 95% of fans renewed their season tickets (which would be 10.5/11k). This year a percentage hasn't been announced, but it looks around 82% (10.3/12.5k). Roughly the same number, but a lower share retained compared to the previous three years (all 95%+) #pafc

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
But I'm not engaging further than that until there's an official announcement from the club. There were people attending Argyle from the failed consortium months before Hallett gave an announcement, you'd expect we're miles away from anything even in the best case scenario
110
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
As Hallett has said many times, there have been lots of interested parties, however few have made it far down the process. All this signals to me is a) that they're probably part of the same consortium that Methven led to try and buy Wednesday b) they have an interest in Argyle
110
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Oh it's definitely Methven and also most certainly Erik Barmack pictured. I don't think it's McEvoy. My point is that attending Argyle doesn't mean buying the club. The intended investors attended a lot of games in 2024/25 and we know how that went. So not even going to bother engaging til it's done
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 27/04/2026
After the last 15 months, I'm not getting remotely engaged in any speculation about any kind of investment or takeover. If it happens, wonderful. Otherwise, I'm just assuming there's absolutely nothing in any of the rumours

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
I mean, I am slightly the wiser. I've learned that the two most likely culprits (playing budget and Foulston) AREN'T causing it. Begs the question. What did we spend c.£20m on to cause an £11m loss that wasn't those two things?!
110
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
3. Foulston isn't driving this. I've learned overnight that wouldn't show on profit/loss accounts, it would show on our balance sheet as capital expenditure but wouldn't impact the £11m loss. 4. I leave the forum none the wiser as to exactly what/how many things are causing the black hole
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
Four things: 1. as in the original tweet, based on the numbers they presented it's not the footballing side that's driving this loss. Effectively, we spend £10m on football, £20m on everything else. 2. the non-footballing staff budget is £5m?! That's over half the player wage budget, madness
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
And yet, football budget as a share of turnover remained virtually static while our losses grew massively. Something(s) is a big black hole in the finances, quite possibly the fact that our non-playing wages are almost as big as our playing wages(!?!?!), or Foulston being secretly way over budget?
000
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
They may well have, but based on the data they shared, the footballing budget is not driving this loss.
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
They never properly explained it, to be blunt. They spoke about some losses, but a not in a way that satisfied me. With the figures they put on screen, and as the charts at the top of this thread show, our footballing budget as a share of turnover is NOT driving this loss
000
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Two things can be true: that players are demanding ever higher wages and that we reduced our player budget and took on a lower quality squad relative to that wage bill than before
000
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Those are stats taken directly from their presentation
200
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Or are you referring to the non-footballing budget wage bill?
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
That first graph is our football budget as a share of turnover as reported at the forum. The footballing side is not what's driving that ludicrous level of loss. That's what's so worrying
210
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
The forecast £10.6m loss will be the largest in Argyle's history. The previous highest reported loss was £5m in 2009. Of course, the losses were far higher in 2010 and 2011, but no accounts were released because of administration #pafc
030
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
And, of course, we've made nearly a £7m player trading profit in those seasons, surely about to report another big transfer profit this summer
000
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Here's the two graphs that seriously worry me. Our wage spending as a share of turnover is basically static. And yet our losses are MILES up. Both are pre any profit/loss from player trading. There's a massive black hole somewhere, and it's not the playing squad #pafc

Very glad to be ahead, but both sides are making this is a very poor game of football thus far

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
Carey in L2 for absolutely certain, particularly in 2016/17. Single-handedly carried us to promotion, how Bradley got POTY completely bemuses me. Take Carey away and we drop to midtable imo. Reid from August 2014 to October 2015 injury was also clearly a league below their level

Of the 17 players to debut in the 21st century and score 20 goals for Argyle, Tolaj required the fewest minutes to reach that number #pafc
020
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 19/04/2026
Lorent Tolaj is the eleventh fastest player to reach 20 Argyle goals (32 games) in the club's history, third fastest post-WW2 (behind Carter and Binney), and fastest in the 21st century #pafc

What I *really* didn't like at all about Muslic was I thought he was a shit talker, and I'm going to say that I was spot on r.e. that. Said whatever he could to portray himself in the best light, regardless of any truth in it.
000
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 01/04/2026
Besides, I never said Muslic was a bad coach. Far from it, I don't think you'll even be able to find a record of me calling for Muslic to be sacked. Simply, I had the opinion that it was not the right hire given the squad we had and that the football would probably be quite turgid (and it often was)
200
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 01/04/2026
I'm not remotely surprised that Muslic is doing well with Schalke. Putting aside that they've got one of the biggest budgets in the league - always helps - Muslic's favoured, high-pressing style unsurprisingly will work well in a European league with far, far fewer three-match weeks
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 01/04/2026
Absolutely nuts that, by 2030, #Italy will have won a single World Cup game in the 24 years since they lifted the trophy in 2006. Of course, that win was against England.
030
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 27/03/2026
It then left us with a horribly unbalanced squad which imo impacted us in the first half of this season (among many other factors) and we were still relegated with two games to go. So I'm hardly going to recount my opinion on Muslic's football
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 27/03/2026
R.e. Muslic, that football was dull, boring, even sometimes had fans booing, and cut adrift bottom of the table until the end of March when the tactics changed slightly, Mumba came back into LWB, more counter attacking and less hoofing, and even then we were lucky to get wins v Sheffield and Preston
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 27/03/2026
You're making that decision with hindsight. You're telling me that on 5th Jan, bottom, managerless, aware that the club is set to lose more than we did in 2009, a year before going into admin, you'd take a gamble that either saves us or leaves us relegated and cutting budgets for the foreseeable?
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 27/03/2026
Assuming the plan was takeover goes through and new owner funds it, we didn't even get the prospective buyers to commit an non-refundable deposit or an interest free loan to underwrite the spend
010
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 27/03/2026
FA Cup run + Muslic compensation totaling c.£2.5m weren't known in Jan 2025. And £12m in loans being needed on top of a c.£7.5m transfer surplus over the past four windows. Being good at the financial side if not on the pitch was the thing we were meant to be good at
