Argyle took more away fans to almost every L1 opponent this season: - Cardiff & Argyle + Exeter & Argyle saw both away ends sell out (indicated by black tip), so is an unfair comparison. - Bradford brought one extra fan, but Argyle visited midweek (lighter shaded bar) #pafc

Four things: 1. as in the original tweet, based on the numbers they presented it's not the footballing side that's driving this loss. Effectively, we spend £10m on football, £20m on everything else. 2. the non-footballing staff budget is £5m?! That's over half the player wage budget, madness

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Two things can be true: that players are demanding ever higher wages and that we reduced our player budget and took on a lower quality squad relative to that wage bill than before

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Here's the two graphs that seriously worry me. Our wage spending as a share of turnover is basically static. And yet our losses are MILES up. Both are pre any profit/loss from player trading. There's a massive black hole somewhere, and it's not the playing squad #pafc

Of the 17 players to debut in the 21st century and score 20 goals for Argyle, Tolaj required the fewest minutes to reach that number #pafc

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 19/04/2026
Lorent Tolaj is the eleventh fastest player to reach 20 Argyle goals (32 games) in the club's history, third fastest post-WW2 (behind Carter and Binney), and fastest in the 21st century #pafc

I used to hold this take, but we've been saying this for over a decade, and the losses have just further increased. Cumulative Championship losses have trebled in the past decade. Are we likely to run out of bored, wealthy elites who want clubs for play things?

Four straight home wins leaves Argyle with an impressive 65% win rate at home in League One since 2021/22, averagine 2.07 PPG. 7/15 losses in that time came in the first half of this season #pafc

Argyle's away attendance at Reading (2.9k) is set to be the 12th highest since the 2009 visit to Arsenal, the eighth highest excluding cup games. Aside from winning the title at Vale in front of 3.9k fans, Argyle have lost the remaining six games by an average of 3.3 goals #pafc

Since Schuey left (GD -1), Argyle have ended a game with a positive GD just once (Swansea, A, that first Champ away win). Will that awful run come to an end this season? It's currently -5, having peaked (or troughed, rather) at -13 in early December #pafc

Seen a small selection of Fox quotes from today. Fair to say that we'd have never signed Katic with that attitude, to pick the first name to spring to mind. And the one about number nines? Nonsense

Small thing about the goal, but as Ibrahim loses the duel, Roberts steps forward to press the ball, opening a gap between midfield and defence that three Swansea players attack. Our midfield two is leaving that gap far too often so far this season #pafc

Nothing to do with it the 60%. We can spend all the transfer fees we've received. Also, it's 75% for newly relegated Champ sides anyway. But we can the equivalent of every penny received in transfer fees this season and last without breaching the rules so long as we match the other regs (we do)

With RAH's departure the latest to be confirmed, Argyle's net transfer spend is... very healthy. The club *must* be sitting on huge cash reserves, how much will be spent during the remainder of the summer? #pafc

Argyle have matched or broken the club's record transfer fee four times in the past two years. Given all the recent departures, surely this chart will change this summer #pafc

Despite facing Champ sides, no longer playing in the PJT, and entering the FA Cup at a later stage then facing very tough opposition, both Issaka and Roberts have played more minutes (league & all comps) than Cooper, Randell, Jephcott at the same age #pafc

Academy graduates Caleb Roberts and Freddie Issaka both received a squad number upgrade this summer and are now Argyle's #24 and #25. Both begin their second years as pros this season and each will surely be keen to breakthrough gain regular minutes #pafc

Consequently, Argyle purchased Goals, a "superior solution for the club" that allows the club to build a "first class training centre for our first team" around a consolidated base of operations at Home Park & Harper's Park #pafc

Though did wonders for our academy, Dewsnip made a series of high profile mistakes (to say the least). One of those was low RRCs in some key players' contracts, Hardie and Randell among them. For the best we've got a new team in to run the footballing side.

From Sheridan to Schuey was almost eleven years, during which Argyle had just four managers averaging just over 2.5 years in charge each. Since then, Argyle are set for a 4th manager in 18 months #pafc

Compensation for Muslic's - a top-10 fee received by the club, no less - adds yet more money to what's likely to be a warchest (for L1, anyway) of about £10m by my estimations (though, that's what these are remember, estimations, not facts) #pafc

I know there aren't a huge number of teams in the South West, but it feels rare to only have one other SW club in our division when not in the Champ. Yet, turns out it's also common in L1: 17/18-18/19 just us and Rovers, 20/21 us, Rovers and Swindon, 21/22 just us and Cheltenham

Argyle have also started to dominate the academy scene in D&C. In the past four seasons, the head-to-head record reads: P13 W10 D1 L2 F37 A12. A key source of Exeter's recent strength that's deteriorated, they've now not sold a first-team academy graduate in almost two years.

Look at the path that Pompey's DoF took, worked their way up jumping from club to club for promotion. There will have been other roles available if Fox was looking to leave Huddersfield, but ended up as Player Loan Manager again at a better club

Parkinson's statement suggests that there won't be an SD hire. Given Fox is just another "Head of", surely that implies he and all the other heads will report into Parkinson. Can't say I love that set-up, *if* that's the case. #pafc

Appears to be £2m, but that could be a simplification of the contract and could be split between other stuff too ofc. Other rumours say different things

Across 21/22 and 22/23, three blocks were sold in 10 of 46 league games, 28 sold just one block of tickets. Looking at L1 next season, I don't see more than four selling out the away end, if that. So, there'll still be ample home tickets available for general sale #pafc
100
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 08/05/2025
Interesting decision to expand season tickets by 1.5k. That'd mean there'd be 13k in a stadium holding 17k. Now, short term it makes sense. Away attendances will likely drop, making a lot more general sale home tickets available. But there might be long-term impacts #pafc 🧵

We knew there wouldn't be many players OOC this summer, but lots of players are now entering the final year of their contracts, including a couple (particularly Hardie and Randell) whom Championship clubs have serious interest in #pafc

Honestly, how many clubs have a stadium in the heart of the city, in a beautiful location, with a training ground adjacent to it, with academy and women's team based just over a half-hour walk away? #pafc

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 01/05/2025
Argyle already purchased Goals back in 2023 for £3m, with plans to rebuild it as "a first class training centre for our first team ... where the players get fit, where they change, where they shower, from where they stroll to the training pitches at Harper's Park."

The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 01/05/2025
The other of the big items that's earmarked for investment is Harpers Park Training Grounds. Millions have already been invested in improving the pitches, but it remains just one full-sized pitch, one half pitch, one mini pitch, no gym etc.

Pointless, but for fun I knocked up an example of what a hypothetical Argyle U21 side could have looked like next season (prior to that academy retained list), though I also guess we might see 2 of WJD, Matthews, and Bernard released at the end of the season #pafc
010
The Argyle Analyst @argyleanalyst.bsky.social · 29/04/2025
Aside from the fact that a lack of u21 team makes it hard for Argyle to retain many apprentices right now, it's also possibly because Argyle have a very promising cohort of u16s not far behind (similar to 2022), who made a quarter of all starts this year #pafc

Want to highlight two similar but contrasting moments two weeks apart. In one Bali receives the ball and has runners, frees one and Argyle counter at speed. In the other, Bali receives the ball, looks up, and everyone is stationary, the passing lanes being cut, gives it away

We weren't the only side relegated yesterday, Carlisle were too, among others, which means the list of teams to finish above us in 2012 or 2013 and be relegated to non-league has grown to 19, nearly a divison's worth of teams

With his 74th Argyle goal yesterday, Ryan Hardie tied for 12th in the all-time goalscoring rankings. Next in the crosshairs is Mickey Evans in joint 10th on 81 goals. In one slightly difficult to read graph, here's how our #9 got there in 5.5 seasons #pafc
