I’ve shut myself in the (fully furnished, heated) basement with the kittens. They are too cute and too rambunctious in the morning! Hopefully my kiddo can sleep in without hearing them pretend they weigh 50 pounds each.

I have two monitors and one of them keeps flashing off and on today. Unplugging and plugging back in did not help. My monitors are possessed. Sometimes they don’t work at all and I have to use my tiny laptop screen. TGIF

We had a birthday party at Get Air yesterday and noticed the water fountain had tape on it and a sign that said it wasn’t working. Watched many kids go to get a drink and see the sign. Assume they then had to go buy water. Then one kid peeled the tape off and tried it. It worked.

I’m allowed caffeine again! But only warm, not hot. Went to make one and the battery in the scale died making the pour over option that much more of a challenge. Judging by the colour of my coffee once I added the cream, this is not going to be a good coffee. Weak and cold. But caffeine!

Almost 48 hours past my dental surgery and getting the swing of this soft food diet. Mashed banana mixed with peanut butter is a very tasty dessert. Also made a squash soup, and a batch of mashed potatoes. I thought I was going to be stuck with protein shakes and apple sauce.

Driving to my dental surgery appt and they call a half hour before to say he’s running late and can I come 15-30 minutes later. My dear, I am almost there already between my anxiety about traffic and need to be early. So now more time to amp up the anxiety.

Does everyone have neighbours that have loud parties or is it just us? Tonight the next door neighbour’s bass is just so annoying. I am annoyed because when he does this, it goes until three and I can’t sleep. Last week it was the other side of us out in the yard yelling until 4:15.

I have a dental surgery on Monday and can’t have caffeine for 12 hours prior or 48 hours after. I thought it would be smart to ween myself off. Today I’m regretting that decision. The headache, the crankiness… just made a decaf and am expecting a LoT from it.

I have tried twice now to learn how to crochet and I just cannot figure it out. I will not yet give up, it took me a while to figure out knitting. These types of things are not my strength.

Workout done. Second coffee in hand. Checked the paper calendar that I printed before vacation to see what meetings I have tomorrow. Have not turned on my computer or work phone since August 20 and am determined not to until I am on work time tomorrow.

Woke in a panic at 12, managed to calm myself and put on sleep headphones and drifted off. Until some random wrong number called at 12:10 and then tried FaceTime at 12:11. Then my body was on high alert for the rest of the night.

There are two brother cats at Otis & Clementine this week. We’re still not ready for a new cat yet, but my daughter has really taken to one of them and I have taken to the other. I feel our cat free time may end in the fall. Until then, we will just visit these guys and the other shop cats.

It’s my moms birthday. I see I have an ‘initial contact letter’ from CRA to celebrate, but cannot log in to their system (it’s down) to see if it’s for me or her. Google tells me it’s first steps of being audited. What’s with this year piling on extra stuff to deal with? Oh well.

I signed up for a ballet class this fall - my first ever dance class. The kiddo has been taking ballet for three (I think) years and is so into getting me up to speed before I start. She's determined to teach me everything she knows. It's great.

I pondered with what to do on my day off, thinking I needed to make an epic day… nope. But it’s been lovely. I dropped the kid at camp, went for an hour walk, got a drive thru breakfast sandwich and then went to Frenchys. Now some cleaning and wasting time online for the afternoon.

It’s so lonely finishing up all my mom’s estate stuff. My friends don’t get it, no fault of their own. They haven’t been through it. But I closed mom’s estate bank account yesterday and the cheques are in the mail to beneficiaries. I’m almost entirely done. The relief I feel… and sadness.

I am finally to the stage of getting cheques issued for the beneficiaries from mom’s estate, and dropped the kid at camp and headed to the bank and realized I didn’t bring my spreadsheets with amounts. I can’t wait to be done with the estate and am also just afraid to be done as that’s it…

I’m in line for my kids’s play. There are two carloads of people that parked before me. They’re still in their cars. I’m out by the door. I think that means I still am first? They haven’t gotten out to join me yet. Had they done so when I got in line, I’d have let them go ahead of me.

I'm going to a dinner with some cousins tomorrow. I have to bring an "other" salad. One is bringing a protein, one a green salad, and one cheese and crackers. We need to be gluten free, no fish or nuts. I don't do well with dairy or quinoa. I have a big book of salads, but cannot choose! Ideas?

I have an out of town friend coming to stay in a few weeks. That gave me the motivation I needed to move some of moms stuff since our spare room is my office and also where I dumped all of moms stuff that I didn’t know what to do with. Now it’s in bins in the storage room.

Does anyone in the North end know if they’re charging for on street parking now in the Oxford/Dublin area? The HRM site shows it as Zone G, but there are no signs on the street indicating that it’s paid parking. I parked today and am assuming I’m good. Will find out at the end of the workday.

Trying to finish off the estate stuff and have the letter ready for review. Hoping to chat to the lawyer this week for a check in to make sure I’m not missing a step. Seems I may need to request a clearance certificate but can’t get into my CRA account since I had to change my cell number.

I could still hear music at 11:30, but I slept over in my kiddos room with her two white noise machines and drowned out the rest with my headphones and my own sleep music. But the fire next door is still smoking quite a bit. grateful for our heat pump and being able to close our windows.

Neighbours next door are having a backyard party with the music going quite loud. Neighbours across the street and one over on the other side have a live band outside with speakers. My kid’s friend is coming over early tomorrow and I will send them outside with ALL the loud toys.
