#Photo #Stormclouds A couple weeks ago, I was at a shopping plaza to get a couple things. There was a severe thunderstorm warning in effect, and the sky was threatening in kind. Yet, conditions were quite calm, as evidenced by the flag in the center. Oh — and that sunlight reflection! 😮

#Subnautica I just finished Subnautica. What a journey! Planet 4546B is absolutely gorgeous — hauntingly so. This is an experience unlike anything else I have played, and one that I highly recommend. A solar eclipse passed over just as I was about to board the rocket home. What a send off!

I was looking at some photos and found this one. My partner gave me this dice tray and cup for Christmas back in 2022. The tray is handmade by someone in Ukraine. 🇺🇦 I wish I could tell you who because this is just so amazing, they deserve glowing recognition. I hope that they are alive and well.

In The Matrix (first movie), Morpheus says to Neo, during kung-fu training, that computer system rules can be bent or broken. That is 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦. Real hackers aren't breaking rules, they are exploiting loopholes in existing rules. Often, in rules that have unintended caveats or consequences.

#Windows11 #Linux Buddy of mine had a 5-6 year old PC and I offered to have a look to see if it could be revived. It had enough dust inside to be a tomb, but with a thorough cleaning, it is working a-ok. But Microsoft won't allow Win11 on this PC. Okay, then. Linux Mint will do nicely.🐧

#VerizonFiOS #FiOS #Spectrum #SpeedTest I recently had Verizon FiOS installed, but I haven't deactivated Spectrum quite yet. I have/had their respective gigabit plans. I did speed tests of both ISPs and here are the results of the best trial for each. No regrets switching to FiOS.

Spectrum has 732.18 mbps download, 38.92 mbps upload, and 21 ms ping. Verizon FiOS has 905.3 mbps download, 913.54 mbps upload, and 15 ms ping.

#Steam #Valve Steam has announced they are ending support for 32-bit Windows 10 in January 2026. That's fine, but does this mean Valve will 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 provide Steam as a 64-bit client? I've been running 64-bit Windows since Windows 7 and I haven't seen a 64-bit Steam client, ever.

My PC has good hardware: 12 core CPU, 12GB GPU, 32GB RAM. If I can't sustain to 𝑎𝑡 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑡 60 fps at 1080p on your game 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑡 upscaling or frame generation, then your software engineer did something wrong. Is that newfangled shiny trick just that computationally expensive? Then it isn't needed.
