Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Aaand there's the Parmenides connection for the semester. Everyone take a shot. 010
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Good gravy, I started turning my scene notes into a to-do list. This is going to get worse before it gets better. Why am I committing-but-not-really to this? 010
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The thing stopping me is various grad school assignments ofc. Nothing makes me more ambitious than completing obligations. 000
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 01/10/2026My book series’s draft pile is turning two at the start of November. Part of me is tempted to see if I can pull together a mostly complete draft of book one before then. There’s only a few scenes entirely unwritten. Rest are in various versions through the pile. 110

Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Walked into a room and promptly forgot why I had entered. Spent several minutes trying to figure it out then gave up. Folks, it was my ADHD meds. 😑 001
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I've tried similar before. Giving Claude history of all questions it has asked before and/or your answers will help prevent repeats, but it may get stuck in a cycle of only *building* on past questions/answers. I recommend some sort of "ensure one question is genuinely new" line in the prompt. 100
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Me, doing assigned reading: This is great. I could write a 2000 word response here and now. Me, 24 hours later, in class: ... This author had a point, yeah? 010

Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 10/09/2026ADHD is such a weird experience, once you know what you're looking at. What do you mean that the same thing I was making rapid progress on yesterday is now hot lava to even attempt? 000
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Oh, yeah, completely agree. Apologies, many of the discussions I face about this tech in day to day have entirely disregarded that element and insist on the assumption we must find use for it. Which… why use Nail Hitter 5000 when I have a hammer right here? 111
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 07/09/2026One of the few uses I've found for LLMs doing research is to help find out what synonymous terms are in different fields when I am doing cross-domain research. But even then a research librarian inevitably can do it much faster. The LLM really only takes precedence if it's time sensitive. 110
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Someone should invent a phone app that shuffles your app icons overnight so that when you reflexively go to open social media, you instead get your flashcards app. Half the time I'm opening Bluesky just to fidget anyway. Might as well be productive. 010
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 04/09/2026As someone who's had to fix a lot of zero-width spaces cropping up in text since the rise of AI text processing, I am instinctively horrified at the chaos a negative-width space would cause. 😂 110
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 04/09/2026This DOES keep the citation from updating if you change the Zotero listing in any way, so make sure your metadata on that end is up to date first. OR go through and remove the spaces as your final editing pass and save them then. 130
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Oh they updated it over the summer. Ok, that prefix/suffix area is entirely on Zotero's end, so CSL edit is a bust. But... As a workaround, you *can* remove the space manually in the citation. Then click "refresh" in the Zotero plugin toolbar and this message should pop up. Yes saves it. 100
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Ohhh I mistook your screenshot for the Word plugin screen. On second look, realizing that's a screen I don't know if I've seen before! (And I'm also on Mac.) What citation style, if I might ask? I can prod it to see if there's a quick fix, but I may be just as lost as you. 110
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Does the error occur if you use "Classic View"? (click the “Z” icon on the left side of the Citation box for a drop-down) It's helped me with odd behavior before. My next guess would be something in the citation style sheet borking (which would take a little investigation). 100

Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 31/08/2026It’s an idea that has been in my head for at least 15 years. There just was always something “wrong” with the fundamentals. Over time, the idea developed and was shaped by the ideas around me, till finally the pieces clicked. So there is no one inspiration at this point. 010
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 31/08/2026I’ve not reached a point where I am ready for beta readers but I have a co-author and we help develop each other‘s ideas well. Makes the process much smoother. 110
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Today I found some paper drafts of the earliest echoes of my novel series. I stored them thinking one day I would turn them into a proper story. I am pleased to report my feeling rereading them is now more cringe than “hope I can write it someday”. The series is apparently coming along well! 😂 100

Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 29/08/2026I am only one week's assigned reading into this semester's philosophy class and already I can tell this is going to be one of those ones where I want to peel off my skin and ascend from humanity by the end. Which is to say... good stuff! 160
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Finally was able to sit down and try this out. I had a few records floating around in my repo from testing sites that I wanted to remove. The UI of Aturi made it VERY easy to do so. Definitely something to keep bookmarked. 062
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 20/08/2026I do wish there were some sort of recognition that two labels are the same text, just different labelers as source. If I subscribe to multiple pronoun labelers, it's going to get messy over time. 020
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Such a mood... When I started FFXIV, I thought tanking sounded daunting because I would need to know mechanics. Now I realize that the beauty of tanking is the mitigation to survive things I don't know or mess up. It's DPS-ing where I end up on the floor all the time. 080

Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 06/08/2026One of my cats, absolute sweetheart of a boy, is afraid of everything. That includes heavy rain. So I've spent the past 20 minutes on the floor with him, sitting between him and the windows, making sure he knows the rain will get me first. 130
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 06/08/2026This whole process has felt like a strange re-wilding of my mind, ripping out the fancy garden beds someone tried to instill in me and letting my thoughts and ideas run free again. I love it and I feel so lucky to be in a place to do this. 020
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I've started writing a book series with my spouse and we've both pretty much agreed that, while some cash would be nice from it, we'd rather self-publish and maybe get a few wonderful fans than have to change our narrative for marketability. And that has made the entire project so much better. 120
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I'm working on a philosophy masters, and every time I get asked what I "want to do with it" I just shrug. I am taking advantage of an employee benefit to get the degree for free. I like my job. I'm not seeking to chase some new career, just strengthen myself as a person. And I love that. 120
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Eventually, I realized that mindset had killed every ounce of joy I once had in doing the things I loved. That, so long as I was making enough through a day job to cover bills, the rest of my time could be spent doing whatever I wanted without having to justify my reasons. 120
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 06/08/2026When I was nearing the end of college, it felt like every conversation about my interests and what I was doing with my time was hinged entirely on the notion of "how does that earn you money?" That persisted through my 20s. 120
Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 05/08/2026I went to one karaoke place where they didn't have the actual music videos playing, but some very odd stock videos? Archivist Moth @archivistmoth.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Writing is bs sometimes. What do you mean I can invent entire worlds, birth people into existence, and solve complex confrontations with simply the power of my own mind but the dishes still need doing? 110
