Working on draft 5 of my novel, and already thinking about #6. I’m never finishing this, am I? Doesn’t matter anyhow.

If you know that then you knew the answer- we were in front of the TV watching this stupid commercial

Are you me? For some reason I’ve been on a huge Fuzzbox kick over the past week. I also found out their guitarist passed away a while ago.

We’ve told all the casting agents that the Weird Al biopic sequel is currently on hold, but they just keep sending in headshots.

I tape mine right next to my butt for optimal vibrational pickup. Which of course makes my music better because it’s from the heart by way of my ass

I am drunk on the black Irish poison. So I’m listening to Canadian country blues. #vinylsky #cowboyjunkies #statetrooper

The record I’ve been listening to the most lately is from 2015. Nightwish Endless Forms Most Beautiful. It SOARS on vinyl. Still kinda old so I’ll throw in Chelsea Wolfe’s She reaches out to she from 2024.

No they won’t and that’s the point.

10 years ago that dude would have been a Bernie bro who switched to trump when B lost the nom. That’s what performative vs practicality has got us.

Well that was a lie. It started acting up by mother goose and was completely screwy by hymn 43. Never buy an angels horn record player.

On my last one so who is to say what an Aranmaybe song is. I mean, me I guess, but right now I’m just concerned how it fits in with everything else. I dunno. I just kinda wanted to talk about this stupid song lol. And I have an appointment on Sunday. A tisket a tasket…

Aranmaybe @aranmaybe.bsky.social · 21/06/2025

So anyway, my inner debate is whether it belongs on the record or not. Right now I’m leaning yes but while I was writing the music I was thinking no, this song is ridiculous, it’s not an Aranmaybe song, blah blah blah. Maybe it isn’t, or maybe it was. I had a jazz song about getting drunk (cont)

My main inspiration for this song was Ella Fitzgerald and Khia. You know, the my neck my back girl. And maybe cardi B. I dunno. It’s absolutely not my Normal style of music (aside from Ella) but the melody has been stuck in my head for a week now and it felt good to finally get it out of there(cont)

“Muschikörbchen”. The dialog is in German. The book is weird. But I do translate it for you in the book and here as well. It means “little pussy basket”. Meaning she has multiple rings in her labia and laces them together, like a basket. So I wrote a song about the pussy basket.

And maybe some country and goth because I can’t get away from that. But then came one song. I’m gonna tell you about it. It’s inspired by a small interaction in the mirrorborn book between two of the incarnations. They’re discussing intimate body piercing and one of them says she has a (cont)

Aranmaybe @aranmaybe.bsky.social · 21/06/2025

A few songs are inspired by the record, it’s not like a retelling or anything. Just reused metaphors and maybe a few quotes, ie not like my Giant Gila Monsters album and book from years ago. Anyway so it’s mostly depressing folk music with a little bit of doomy metal shit (cont)

Aranmaybe @aranmaybe.bsky.social · 21/06/2025

So I went back to working on my new record. I had started on a few tracks at the beginning of the year but didn’t have much of a direction. But after I finished Mirrorborn I thought it would be fun to make a companion record. So that’s sorta what it’ll be, although not strictly. (Cont)

So it’s been a while since I posted. My record player is acting up so I haven’t been spinning any vinyl lately. I’ve really just been working on a book. I finished the first and second drafts already but wanted to take a little break before I went through it a third time. (Cont)

#nowplaying #vinylsky #symphonicmetal I think this is now my favorite #Nightwish album. Or maybe I just really love Floor Jansen. Either way it’s barely left the record player in a week.

So that puts me at 5 Fairport records, plus two Sandy Danny solo. Officially has overtaken Lou Reed/VU and is getting close to Heino.
