Just because I'm tired of hearing this argument - he shouldn't have said this at all, but he did not say all Japanese games suck, he was asked in 2012 what he thought of *recent* (2012!) Japanese games, he said THOSE suck, the tech and UI is outdated, and how much better they used to be. See here:

I bought a ngage and it’s one of the most interesting bits of gaming history I think I own rn Compare it to the gba (the thing it was ment to compete with) and it’s amazing. Plus it’s a phone wow! Games are 3d and run pretty great Unfortunately the ds and psp stole its thunder
