Watching Blue Beetle on Netflix and I'm struck by the inconsistent tone Giant beetle robot that just impaled (killing) at least one guy ejects some kind of tear-gas, accompanied with an elongated fart sound effect This is a good example of why the DCEU films are awful

I'm not currently it, I am meat. The only way I can be it is if I currently am, which I am not. An exact copy of me could hypothetically experience, but that wouldn't transfer back to me. It would be separate at the point of creation. Something is only identical to itself

I think it's a symptom of how the slasher genre evolved - it became less "oh, I hope this person survives this horrible scenario" and instead morphed into "I will enjoy watching these people I don't like get killed in imaginative ways" Went from horror to being a gore pervert
