I've been feeling this a lot lately as someone who helped build an early dialup ISP in the 90s. It seemed like connection across divides was going to lead to so much good change. The global village and all that. But now look at us. This was my "farewell" video on TikTok to that same effect.

It's been a rough stretch and I'm trying not to be too hard on myself for struggling to keep up with everything. But the youngest kiddo and I just made the most charlie-browniest yule log out of extra campfire wood and a bunch of birthday candles... and that feels like so much more than enough. 🕯️

The Detroit Public Library is such an amazingly beautiful and reverent place. "Knowledge is Power", indeed. Michigan folks — if you already have a library card in your home city, show it at the DPL circulation desk and they'll give you a Detroit library card for free.

This has been a really difficult month for a number of reasons, and I'm finding that at least right now I'm having a hard time focusing while working alone at home. So today I rode my bike to the library and am working from one of the study rooms. Libraries coming in clutch once again... 💚

Since we're all loving on libraries over here, I just found out that if you work in Ann Arbor, you can get an @aadl.bsky.social public library card with no fee just as if you were a resident. On a very related note, isn't my new library card adorable?
