Another year, another #Thanksgiving (we’re in Canada) and potentially a new “just us” Thanksgiving tradition. Turkey with the in-laws earlier in the weekend, but HOT POT on the Monday! Funny how the white guy had the most “weird Chinese-y stuff on it”. I’ve indoctrinated him well.

Canada is refusing to issue ISBNs to books primarily generated with AI. This illustrates both the urgency of the problem of the growing flood of slop books, and also the toothlessness of addressing it on the honor system without there also being consequences for lying

Finally tried local legend Fishman Lobster Clubhouse, but my mom didn’t want the famous HK style prep (😔). Met our lobsters, then Iron Kwan Yin tea and a soothing broth. Then juicy, dry aged ribeye. Ginger/scallion and steamed preparations, pea shoots with king mushrooms, and vermicelli w/ shrimp.

54km each way. 2 bowls of cereal at an unlimited cereal bar (we were being reasonable!), total. 1 “Cartoon and Cereal” event at an indie film theatre. (1 Tom cat, 1 Jerry mouse). 40 years melted away for me and my #autistic brother as we relived childhood Saturday mornings. PRICELESS.

Every year Hubby has one seriously stellar idea. This year it was revisiting Happy Lamb Hotpot. We got the “Ying Yang” - Szechuan Mala (numbing peppercorns) and the original broth. The pumpkin cakes with “luck/prosperity” embossed were also cute.
