This is absolutely deplorable. Starbucks had always felt like a safe space for me. I came out as trans to my team when I was a partner and was met with overwhelming support. I am saddened to say that Starbucks has just made my list of companies I will never give patronage to ever again.

I was a barista for 8.5 years. They laid me off because the store I transferred to a month prior wasn't bringing in as much as they wanted. I hate that I am conditioned to feel bad for calling out of work. I'm lying in bed feeling miserable due to SSRI withdrawals. I should not go to work like this. I have sick time. That's what it's for. But I still feel anxious and burdensome for calling out and choosing rest instead of working.
