Long story short I'm in Greece (♥️🇬🇷) for the next couple years. Left almost all my possessions behind as donations. Building my kitchen supplies back up, and threw together some local ingredients. Needs wine but worked out pretty well. Pan seared chicken, rice, potatoes.

Once you understand the corporate culture of AI hyperscalers is everyone cooking their brains by locking themselves in the bathroom, holding flashlights under their chins, and saying "Aaaaaaaaaay Eyeeeeeee" until they wet themselves in terror, things snap into focus: pluralistic.net/2023/06/04/a...

A cutaway view of a stone tower containing an elaborate water-powered medieval geared machine. Rising out of the machine is a rainbow-tinted, pixelated God with the robes, beard and all. To one side of this scene is a cluster of tiny people in Jesus-era robes, falling about themselves in religious ecstasy all over a stone staircase, atop of which stands a robed priest with his hands upraised. The background is a set of shining golden rays, emanating from pixel-God.

Yeehaw, FINALLY had the time and spoons to finish up #miniaturepainting these Puppetswar #ghostbusters #orks. I'm satisfied with how they turned out and learned a lot about the comic style of painting.

It has been a hell of a summer. I'm finally sitting down for #miniaturepainting again. Still #wip for a modern-day set but here's some finished #urban #bases I have prepared for the finished models.

Not at all about mini painting. I snapped my shit up overexerting in a marathon 4 years ago. Gained 100lb on the couch, lost all conditioning. Been struggling. Today I tried a very little jump rope and I think I've finally found my slow-starting incremental on-ramp back to running. Hope, finally. ♥️

Welp, I've hit the part of the job search process that describing would invoke content warnings. I don't need any more material conditions, I'm already class aware, thanks. Hmu if y'all know someone looking for a DBA/SQL dev/data warehouse engineer type.

FINALLY had time to sit down for #miniaturepainting today. Just knocking the rust off with this little guy from @reaperminiatures.bsky.social . Consistently satisfied with copper nmm at last! Took me three hours and I feel a weight off from getting back to the hobby. ♥️

#wip wednesday for #miniaturepainting. After MONTHS of being kinda stuck I now have some firm deadlines and am getting through a truly intimidating amount of prep. Blew through a whole rattle can of Corax in an afternoon, and a couple hours getting thinner layers on smaller pieces with my airbrush.

Nearly 2000 points of OPR Orc and DAO units, 3D printed and primed white.

A cardboard box full of small pieces that needed airbrushing with primer.

More of my #TMNT 1987 project for my @onepagerules.bsky.social GFF Orc army, using #puppetswar Ninja Family sculpts and Goon Master Games base bits. I learned a lot from these, and have plans for more. Raphael is cool but crude, Michaelangelo is a party dude!

Back! Here's some #puppetswar orcs (Ninja Family) for my @onepagerules.bsky.social GFF Orc army, painted up like #TMNT 1987 in a comic style. 80% of this project was learning but we finally got 'er done! Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines. Some fun base scatter from Goon Master Games.

#miniaturepainting #wipwednesday Boy oh boy. I am *abusing* these #puppetswar orks trying to get a cartoon/comic styling. The ugly phase lasts so long (or I'm fucking it up). TMNT palette means lots of transparent/streaky/splotchy yellows and greens. I've learned a bunch, at least.

I've dabbled in martial arts for decades, sword and fist. I'm at best mediocre in an exhausted, workmanlike way that depends on practice rather than talent. But I just had an epiphany about brush control in miniature painting and realized why calligraphy is a meme about martial artists.
