gave my subwoofer the passive treatment lol

A small subwoofer disassembled on the floor. The driver of the subwoofer has a somewhat obviously DIY speaker wire connected to it, which runs out through one of the bass ports.

the mids and low end are still a little bit crunchy but they have like 25 years of wear and tear on them. and i’m not about to buy new mid diaphragms and woofers lol (well…maybe at some point some new mid diaphragms would be in order). but anyway holy shit does the high end sound good now.

well our tweeters were definitely dead

A small, silver-domed tweeter diaphragm. The dome is very crushed and has a small tear through it.

also you might notice the desktop has moved a little bit, i moved it over a bit for some more legroom. also it can breathe now! not that thermals were ever an issue, but i think they should be even better now.

oh in _other_ news of things slowly failing around my studio, my subwoofer has continued to do the thing where the power led stays on when i turn it off, but now it makes fun hissing and screeching noises when i turn it off too!!!

its been doing this thing where depending on what screen i have up the whole screen will get a bit of a green tint to it sometimes, and now its doing some strange striping and a bit of (temporary?) burn-in whenever i open signal lol.
