im gonna keep an eye out now in whatever msq i have left to catch up on, and maybe i’ll be peeved enough to check the other 7.0 patches. but having spent a significtant amount of time comparing even minute details in dialogue over previous expacs, the extent in 7.4 stood out to me. it feels lazy idk

just lots of details removed and moments diluted. most recent example: doomtrain trial. in EN sphene just says its a destructive weapon and little on its origins. in FR she fully explains its a weapon from Lindblum, a large kingdom nearby Alexandria. idr lindblum being mentioned in the EN text.

i cant speak on dawntrail (played it in full english) and the other 7.0 patches (skipped cutscenes) but 1.0-6.56 the EN and FR align at least 70% of the time (and FR follows JPN more closely), but in 7.4 almost every spoken line is vastly different and to a disappointing experience extent imo

so bc ffxiv has 2 different settings in different places to change VA language and game language that im playing rima msq w the game UI in english but audio in french. im currently mid 7.4. and i need yall to know that holy SHIT the EN localization for this patch is lazy as FUCK in comparison

LACE IS MY ENEMY!! and overlaying accessories is a nightmare i tried lining a simple V shape collar with 2 types of lace trim sort of overlapping each other and it took me like 30 min 😭 also the amount not resetting when buying different fabrics ive accidentally bought way too much and wasted money
