I decompiled the Portal 2 E3 Pneumatic Diversity Vent map from 2010 to see how they work, and it's just a point_push. Basically a glorified trigger_push I've been wanting to know how these things work for 16 years, and I'm satisfied to have the answer... but also kind of disappointed lol

Good lord this show is beautiful (Pluribus) Just an absolute visual spectacle

Freaking love beautiful and colorful cinematography. The way that a frame is composed can have such an emotional effect on the tone of a film. These are some of my favorites (in order): Cloud Atlas (2012), The Master (2012), Barry Lyndon (1975), and The Thin Red Line (1998) What are your favorites?

Visited @fractaledge.bsky.social family in Oregon last weekend, and the view from their porch is just gorgeous

Damn I hate it when I see a really nice piece of art but the artist's signature is totally illegible. How am I supposed to look up this person if the signature is so stylized??

Just saw a YouTube Short that went something like: "So why did Altoids Sour get discontinued? Well first we need to go back to 1949 when Taiwan declared independence..." No we fucking don't just get to the point

After agonizing about going back to school I finally decided to bite the bullet. Apparently with my coursework at LSU and all of the courses I took in the Navy, it ultimately added up to 67 transfer credits toward my degree. Just a little over halfway done. The other 12 are currently registered

While listening to video essays, if I hear the phrase, "This matters because..." I instantly suspect the uploader of using AI to write their script. LLM's seems to have a tendency to use that phrasing to substantiate the body of the text.

Lamenting the fact that TotK never had the Gerudo Vai outfit. Even more disappointing is that I can install a mod for that, but none of them are compatible with the Wolf Link TotK mod. And I refuse to play TotK without Wolf Link. I love him too much

Idk how common of a sentiment this is, but I'm sick and tired of games being bogged down by post-processing garbage. I've been replaying Mirrors Edge, and the game is just beautiful, crisp, and stunning. Frankly I'd prefer older tech over higher poly counts. True fidelity seems lost and forgotten

Every now and then I feel this sort of deep longing for being in the military again. There were so many reasons why I left, and I was 100% sure of myself when I separated. I just can't shake this feeling of loss for some reason. I guess I'm institutionalized like any other veteran.

Remember when Vine was a thing? That was a good social media platform. Just 6 seconds to do something creative, fun, or hilarious. Not nearly enough time to convince the geriatrics that vaccines cause autism... It was a simpler time

Maybe this is a Boomer thing to say, but I miss old YouTube and by extension, old internet. I have fond memories surfing old YouTube, watching small-time skits, and feeling like anything I could ever want to learn how to do was at my fingertips. It's all algorithmic manipulation now...

I finished Death Stranding 2 a few days ago, and for the most part, I thought it was great. I can't help but feel it wasn't challenging enough though and a little disappointing. I got the trike and the truck vehicles very early on, so I kinda felt like I breezed through every challenge.

Some people might think this is a pain in the ass, but I kinda love it when a video game makes me pull out a pen and paper for notes. Something very satisfying about it. Bonus points if I need to do some calculations on it

@timheidecker.bsky.social I have a Cinco product for you, Tim: The B'Hive - a live beehive you wear on your head. A straw feeds you honey from it, and you need to remove 4 teeth so the straw can rest comfortably in your mouth at all times. Happy B'Hive-Time!

I made a post on /r/MandelaEffect regarding a movie I recently rewatched. It was a scene from Magnolia that I vividly remember, but made no appearance. My post was removed because of breaking the "Does Anyone Else?" policy. Very silly since the most recent post was from 2 days ago.

The Half-Life games are my favorite of all time, but Death Stranding 1 and 2 really gives them a run for their money. The unapologetic sincerity of DS1 and DS2's story really speaks to me - even when it's silly and a little hard to take seriously. I'm just tired of irony in storytelling I guess.

Aperture @apertureace.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

Been playing Death Stranding 2 since yesterday. Freakin love it so far, and I'm not even passed the first chapter. I will say, there's a certain je ne sais quoi to it that reminds me of MGS V. Can't quite articulate why at this current time though

Aperture @apertureace.bsky.social · 24/06/2025

Watched The Book of Mormon on Broadway last weekend and the highlight of it was one of the actors on stage absolutely struggling to keep a straight face in one of the finale songs. Nothing quite as funny as a world-class theatre actor on the brink of losing it because of crowd feedback!

010

Aperture @apertureace.bsky.social · 15/06/2025

A subtle (yet ever-present) mechanic I loved about Death Stranding is the connection system. I've never played a game where friendly characters say, "I appreciate the things you do for me, and I value you as a friend." Most hero games revolve around, "You're so bad ass, can you do this for me?"
