City Museum should absolutely top your list of things to see!

I know we both have mayors named K. Wilson, but I would be shocked to find out that there is also a Portland City Councilor named Alexis Mercedes Rinck.

My wife regularly gets a letter from Toyota offering to purchase her car because "we have had several customers who are interested in purchasing a reliable Prius C." Maybe that's a sign that you should bring it back to the US!

Will voting take place at a specific time during the meeting or could a member vote remotely without attending the meeting? For example, perhaps Town Hall will have several interested members in attendance tonight.

@fixthel8.bsky.social I've heard a complaint from someone that they don't have as much reading time on their commute after work. Maybe we should have a peak-only 8Z route that doesn't use the bus lane?

WA passed the Commute Trip Reduction Act in 1991 requiring large employers in urban growth areas to submit and implement plans to reduce commuting by driving alone.

Life After Cars spotted on the 8. I hope the reader enjoyed the swift ride on these new bus lanes. I know I did!

Never could have imagined an eastbound 8 reaching 26 MPH going east through SLU during the evening rush hour. And now it’s a reality!
Transit App trip report of an eastbound 8 trip from Pacific Science Center to Capitol Hill during the evening rush hour on the second day with new bus lanes. The trip took 14 minutes and had a top speed of 26MPH near Fairview.

This bus line had a song written about its unreliability over a decade ago.

@fixthel8.bsky.social, is Tacocat going to perform their new hit "❤️.U. #8" at the upcoming Race the L8?

I’m riding the 8 during its first evening peak and expected more traffic.

Yes and the signage at the stop has been removed.

The stop relocation alert for this is still active until 1/1/2027. I didn’t notice it was open until last week.

I rode by on an 8 just before 11 and saw them working on the new configuration at Boren. The slip lane was still open so perhaps I saw some of the last drivers to use it.

What is particularly annoying is that Sound Transit removes the arrival information from the platform screens during each of their many announcements.

I was there an hour before with my family and it was so crowded you could barely move. I'm sure lots of people were injured when everyone was trying to get away and not really knowing where to go. I feel horrible for the victims and for the thousands of people who experienced it.

The grocery store I went to in Barcelona had a little area at the entrance for people to lock up their carts while they shop. I appreciated that little detail.

Made it to UW (my destination). I thought I heard the operator say the train was going to Lynnwood after all but it was on the southbound platform. Maybe the disruption cleared.

I am on a northbound 1 Line train that is turning back at UW “due to a disruption.” It just stopped in the middle of the tunnel. @sound-transit.bsky.social

I took a round trip to Bremerton (fast ferry there and state ferry back) on the morning of the USA v Belgium game. There were a ton of walk on passengers heading to Seattle that morning. I'll be interested to see ridership data from all the agencies tabulated together.

This is the kind of thing I would want to save on my phone for a trip in case I don’t have a solid internet connection.

If someone decides to take a taxi one time because they just missed a low frequency bus, they will have paid more for that ride than this tax increase for the entire year. Let’s build the frequent transit network instead.

When the first TBD was being debated, Kshama Sawant spoke strongly against the regressive nature of the taxes. At the end of the day, she supported the measure because transit service was too important. That STBD service expansion was and still is crucial for mobility in our city.

I hope there will be a public viewing so we can see the new trainset up close. And maybe get a new magnet to complement the one from the Charger introduction!
Magnet with a picture of a Siemens Charger locomotive for the Cascades route. The magnet was handed out when the Chargers were introduced to the Cascades corridor.

With similar tactics, Seattle Times was successful at preventing most of HALA over a decade ago so it isn’t surprising that they will try again to push off solutions to our housing crisis for another decade.

The first time I took the Coast Starlight south from Seattle, there was a National Park Ranger in the lounge car teaching people about what we were seeing all the way to Portland. I thought it was great!

I didn’t realize SDOT even painted curbs red because I so rarely see them. For daylighting, I mostly see signage. I once encountered a neighbor painting a curb red on their own to keep people from parking in front of the curb cut. It turned out to be pretty effective!

I wish they would design the screen layout so that there is dedicated space for train times and separate space for written announcements. A repeated chain of announcements means that the train times don’t show up for a long time.

I wonder if the station art at UW will ever get its backlighting restored to all the dark panels. I particularly like that station art as well as the backlit pollen at Star Lake.

I've never seen this on a poll before. There were at least 4 of these throughout the poll. The poll ended up being about a statewide sugary beverage tax.
Question from an online polling firm. It requests the user to select "slightly concerning", one of the five options listed.

The Downeaster cafe sells Charlie Cards with $5 on them so that you can easily transfer to the T. I wish Cascades trains did that for Hop/ORCA/Compass cards.

The reason this segment was passed over before was the expense of rebuilding the pedestrian bridges. Are those included in this project or have they found a way to widen the trail without replacing them?
