Next up, the Great Sorceress, keeper of magical mysteries and bearer of tremendous magical abilities... And her little apprentice. Will Chiqui ever be able to measure up to her grandmother? Maybe one day. First things first though, she's got to keep working on that transformation spell.

A nervous, little witch looking directly at the viewer. Behind her, a tall woman with a black cloak facing away from the viewer. The text reads "Chiquinquirá".

An old woman with a severe look on her face. She holds a magical 8-pointed star in one hand and appears to have white wings. Behind her, a single, pale eye looks at the viewer. The text below reads: "Providencia, the Great Sorceress".

Bárbara calls it like she sees it, which can make her come across a bit harsh. Alba, on the other hand, usually keeps to herself, but can be very persistent about rules.

A strong woman wearing a cowboy hat covering one of her eyes. Behind her, a flying hawk and the setting sun. The text reads "Bárbara, the Witch of the Scorching Sun".

A young woman holding a parasol with the night sky inside of it. She looks directly at the viewer. Behind her, a barn owl and a crescent moon. The text reads "Alba, the Witch of the Silver Moon".

Gonna start posting some characters from my book. First up, Consuelo and Maigualida, the Witches of the Cloud Forest and the High Seas! Each one inspired by a different Venezuelan region (the Andes, and the Lake Maracaibo and La Guajira).

A short, old woman in a hat and a poncho. She smiles at the viewer. Behind her, a quetzal and the cloud forest.

A woman with a serious look on her face. She's wearing traditional wayúu clothing with a fishing net tied around her waist. Behind her, sea waves and a frigatebird.

This is a tribute to Peter Benchley, author of 'Jaws', who dedicated his life to reversing the unexpected negative impact his book had on the image of sharks. We kill millions of sharks annually and demonize them in our media, who is the real monster? 💀 #Jaws #sharks #shark

An allegory of the "Jaws" movie poster that caused damage and negative stereotypes to the image of sharks that persist to this day (I'm glad it's slowly changing, but it's still too slow to be considered forgivable). Now with a reversal of roles, with the human victim replaced by a simple wild shark and the terrible stereotyped shark replaced by a monstrous human skull seeming to want to devour the shark (this is the reality, we kill thousands of sharks every year, many of them killed for irrational reasons, who is the real cruel killer?)

I've MANY feelings about the state of trad publishing for comics, most of which are angsty & fill me w/ dread. So I'll just say: If you read a book you loved, tell the creator! Tell your friends! Tell the internet! Tell your local library! Buy a copy! We need to hear that what we created matters.
