Bright red, barely anything left in the tank, but HAPPY. Longest run of the year so far - only 4k but very happy with that. If you need motivation or a sign that you should do something active today - this is it.
A selfie of me sat on a wall (the old stone bridge over the Penrhos cutting) very red in the face but smiling. I definitely look as tired as I felt when taking the photo!

New Iceland tally: Nights stayed = 5 Northern lights seen = 2 Times people have used their flash to take pictures of the aurora = 2
This photo shows the aurora as a long green zig-zaggy line from top right to bottom centre against a near black sky. A faint purple colour can be seen around the green. Stars are visible in the sky. The photo was taken in Night Setting but otherwise has not been altered.

Hope I'm not too late to wish everyone a happy #Caturday Please enjoy this Spot the Difference photo of my orange cat. Same cat, same washing machine, approx 1 year apart.
This image shows two photographs side by side of a ginger cat sat inside the same (dry) washing machine. The left hand photo is when the cat is a little tiny fuzzy kitten, whose head barely reaches the middle point of the drum. The right hand photo is when the cat is a young adult, approximately 1 year later, and his head is near the top of the drum.

Why My Run Didn't Go So Well This Morning: A series of photographs.
Instead of a path, there is instead a huge puddle of water which is too big to go around and too vast to jump. The person taking the photo did not attempt either of these.A very muddy patch of grass across which you can see the footprints and slide marks of people who have tried to use it as a path to get around the flood (see previous picture).A pavement covered almost entirely in snow and ice which would be treacherous to run or jog on.The photographer has pointed the camera down their legs towards their feet, which are clad in socks but no shoes. A wet tide line can be seen halfway up the socks, meaning the wearer's feet are completely soaked, despite not running through the flood (see previous picture)

Happy #Caturday Apparently this shower isn't big enough for the both of them, but I quite often find one or the other sat in it. And wet footprints leading from the shower 👣

Again- Musk’s X posts are so deranged that everyone should be writing to their MPs …expressing concern that Musk is engaged in a disinformation campaign against the UK government - attempting to foment civil unrest in the UK and endanger the safety of politicians.

Elon Musk is starting to risk getting Jess Phillips killed. She's been safeguarding minister for six months. She oversaw nothing relating to the rape gangs. As an opposition MP she was one of the most prominent campaigners for the victims. What he's doing is a travesty.

And so it begins… You can’t appease these people. They only respond to decisive limits. Don’t implement them and they’ll take the piss. We are already in a democratic recession. Labour’s inaction won’t just screw them, it’ll screw us all. Our elections will be bought.

I restarted the Couch to 5k recently and although I always find running a struggle, there were 2 lovely things about this morning's run: 1. This view across the frozen lake 2. That I ran "with" my sister this morning even though she's 200 miles away.
In the foreground is a frozen lake, fringed by icy grass. In the background is Castle View housing estate in Caerphilly, which you can just make out against the rising hillside. Your eyes are drawn first to the glow of the sun starting to rise over the hillside, making it look like the horizon is on fire.

This Christmas I have mostly been trying to get my cats out of the bag for the presents.
There are two photographs side by side. Both show a brightly coloured carrier bag. In the left photo a small black cat sits in the bag. You can only just see her face - side profile - over the top of the bag. In the right hand photo, a slightly larger ginger cat sits in the bag. His face is visible clearly looking out over the edge of the bag, facing the camera. He looks pleased with himself (or so the photographer anthropomorphised)

They're now the fully grown menaces that all kittens deserve to be: Happy 1st Birthday Treacle and Marmalade.
This is a side by side comparison of two photographs of two cats, taken 1 year apart in which the cats are sitting in similar positions: the larger ginger cat is sat behind the smaller black cat while they're both sat up facing the camera. In the left hand photo they're both tiny fuzzy little kittens, in the right hand photo they're 1 year old and nearly fully grown adult cats, although technically STILL A LITTLE BABY.

Christmas street lighting with natural illumination in Caerphilly.
A photograph of the silhouette of a Christmas street light. Behind it is the grey sky and clouds, with a rainbow exactly lined up with the street light so that the colours of the rainbow can be seen behind the silhouette of the Christmas light

Sunday thoughts: Keep Left, folks
Screenshot of an article by Zarah Sultana which has the headline "The enemy of the working class travels by private jet, not migrant dinghy"A graphic by The Left Bible that has the words: Fifty years of "Trickle Down" has turned millionaires into billionaires and the working class into the working poor.A photo of artwork cunningly disguised as a sign in National Museum that says "Keep Left"A screenshot of a tweet by Nathalie Robin Justice that says: If a monkey hoarded more bananas than it could eat, while most of the other monkeys starved, scientists would study that monkey to figure out what the heck was wrong with it. When humans do it, we put them on the cover of Forbes.

Do we have #Caturday over here? In my house, every day is Caturday, courtesy of Treacle and Marmalade.
The photo shows two cats. On the left is Treacle, a small black cat with a tiny white patch on her chest. On the right is Marmalade, a slightly larger ginger cat. They are looking up at the camera as if they're hoping it's made of food.

Sunday thoughts: freedom is knowledge, and knowledge is education. Some messages shared on the bird app that resonated with me. I'm very worried about the state of education in Wales and the apparent lack of awareness from Labour.
A screenshot of a tweet by Sioned Williams which says: Welsh Finance Minister Mark Drakeford claiming the UK budget signals an end to neo-liberal policies. Can't think of anything that demonstrates a neo-liberal approach more than Labour's escalation of student tuition fees and failure to reform the current broken HE funding model.A screenshot of a tweet from Cefin Campbell MS in October this year: As Welsh Universities face huge financial pressures, the Welsh Labour Minister outlined plans in the Senedd for an emergency fund to support our higher education sector. Tonight, in a letter to MS: the Minister had to confirm no such plans existScreenshots of tweets from Matt Bernstein, sharing stats of two states that voted unanimously: Oklahoma (Republican) and Massachusetts (Democrat). Matt comments that the takeaway is "not that we should hate poor uneducated people but that the republican party directly benefits from keeping people poor and educated which is why they create policies which do just that." He adds "calling people dumb... might feel good... but these people are also victims of the politicians they elect and we need to figure out how to communicate that."A screenshot of a post from Plaid Cymru that says: Labour have been in charge of Wales's education system for 25 years. Here are the results. It's time for a fresh start with Plaid Cymru. A graphic below the post says: Lowest ever PISA scores = F; Universities in financial crisis = F; Children leaving school unable to read = F; Teachers leaving the profession = F.

There's a fantastic art exhibition in Queen Street Gallery in Neath at the moment, showing the Art of Independence - what independence means to people, to their community and to Wales. It's on until Saturday 30th November, and has come about from a competition run by Yes Cymru Pen Y Bont ar Ogwr.
A photograph showing art clearly inspired by The Beatles' Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover, with some prominent faces in the Indy Wales movement, with Leanne Wood and Dafydd Iwan being two of the most prominent in the crowd.A photograph of artwork showing a family tree, where, instead of names are just black smudges, showing where the Welsh language has died out in many families, particularly in South Wales. A photograph of a back lit design, showing 54 small photos of Yes Cymru inspired graffiti around WalesA photograph showing a black and white painting of protests against the drowning of Capel Celyn. Prominent at the front is a banner saying "Your homes are safe. Save ours. Do not drown our homes." and "Capel Celyn must live."

For my first post I wanted to share this beautiful sunset that I snapped over Cardiff Bay on Wednesday evening. It's a reminder of how lucky I am to work in such a beautiful location. #FirstPost #Sunset #Wales #Cardiff
Sunset over Cardiff Bay taken from the Senedd. To the right of the photo, and looming large is the silhouette of the Pierhead Building. On the horizon, standing out against the vivid orange sky, is the St David's Hotel.
