There is that Bill Bailey sketch yeah, but the song itself is still great. Never liked Andy, You're a Star. From Hot Fuss I do like "Change Your Mind". Sam's Town has some great tracks too, better album than Hot Fuss if anything.

I love the buildup to that song. Good take.

This is an attitude I'm increasingly coming around to. The Fusion's a bit of an anomaly - I like it, but I probably wouldn't have bought it if it was going to be more than temporary, and instead I'd have got something sensible but also interesting with a view to keeping it longer.

I dig it, especially as I'm still in a Crown mood after finding that Crown Sedan the other week.

Blimey that VW prototype is already in a museum?!

See also: Smart #1 being a much larger car than the now incredibly unfortunately named Fortwo replacement, the #2. And then the #3 is an SUV/coupe again, but the range then skips #4 for some reason, and jumps to #5. (Someone at Geely isn't great at maths.)

I'm not saying he's not impressive, I'm saying that you can't make a call that he's some kind of master overtaker when he's driving a rocketship in an era when cars can have a 30km/h advantage on straights.

Antony Ingram @antonyingram.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
He's been in F1 for a matter of minutes and barely had any wheel to wheel racing in that time. Far too early to make a call like that.

Antony Ingram @antonyingram.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
"Less wheel to wheel racing" is flat out wrong. Alonso? Vettel? Rosberg? Max? The only driver I remember there being regular contact with was that season where Massa was in his missile phase.
000
Antony Ingram @antonyingram.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
That's simply not the case. There will obviously be contact between teammates now and then - there has been between Antonelli and Russell! But it's simply incorrect to claim Hamilton can't pass without crashing.
210
Antony Ingram @antonyingram.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Back when Hamilton and Button were teammates there were several GPs where they'd run side by side for half a lap without contact. That said, Antonelli's had such a performance advantage this year that I don't think he's had many cases where wheel to wheel stuff has been necessary.

Antony Ingram @antonyingram.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Hamilton's far from a constant crasher. The common theme there was Verstappen - and that's because Hamilton decided he wasn't going to be a pushover and dive out the way when Max did something daft.

I wonder the same about games on discs. How the frig do people scuff up discs that much? Do people leave them face down on the driveway?

This one, I think somebody on here mentioned it a few weeks back. MR2/Kenmeri/962 is very my kind of thing.

That's pretty cool. Someone alerted me to the Advan pack the other day so I think I may have to spend over the odds on eBay to get one of those at some point...

More things you see in the south of France. This Laguna has lived a busy life but lack of front plate suggests it's now resting for a while.

Not sure it's the *only* one. Notwithstanding the Fiat 124, I'd say the 4cyl BMW Z3, 3rd gen MR2, MGF, and Fiat Barchetta all count (not all sold in the US obvs but still direct competitors - to the extent I doubt any would have been made if the MX-5 had never existed).

I think more cars are bad on it than good unfortunately, partly as the surface has deteriorated so much. Narrow tyres and plenty of sidewall is the key I think.

Was watching BTTF 3 the other day and it reminded me of the absolute nightmare the owners of the "McFly house" have had from tourists over the years.

Once wrote about it with an evo long-term Focus ST and had a very angry owner (natch) write in telling me I can't drive and "have I tried focusing *past* the screen?"

Quick rundown of stuff I don't like about the car (faults or scruffiness aside): 1) Heated screen elements 2) Seats have no support in cornering 3) No dead pedal 4) Crap interior storage Otherwise, still quite enjoying it.

Never been convinced that for the handful of days a year where it's marginally better than just scraping ice off the screen, it's worth the diffraction effect from every light source on every night drive (and worse still when it's wet as well as dark).

Airport run. Fusion gets brownie points for making light work of that awful concrete bit of the M25, least noisy thing I've driven on that in ages. Screen needs a clean but some of that light scattering is the bastard heating elements which I've always disliked in Fords.

Can back up Craig's recommendation on a little 12v Bluetooth/FM device. For 13 quid it works great, tried it in both the MX-5 and Fusion now. Obviously doesn't have the functionality of bunging a CarPlay screen in either, but music's all I really need anyway...

Booking fees are the most ridiculous scam. Admin fees of any sort, like there's not enough profit baked into most things to cover whatever insignificant costs result from changing a few numbers on a spreadsheet somewhere.

Would love the X-1R sports version but they're going for strong money in Japan now.

Discovered them in an issue of (I think) Practical Classics probably 15-20 years ago, which rounded up a Cherry, Z600, Corona, and first-gen RX-7. Think back then the vibe was still a bit "are Japanese cars classics?" but much easier to call today.

Same happens here with a lot of 70s/80s British stuff. It's okay to like it! But a lot of it was terrible in period. The cars that have survived and people now love are the very rare exceptions rather than the norm...
