Scandinavia is liberal and capitalist. DSA is anti-liberal and anti-capitalist (it's written in their charter, and half their leadership are avowed Communists). It's obvious DSA points to Scandinavia and healthcare as an infiltration tactic. How many articlesdo we need to sort this out?

OTD in 2022, just hours before we invaded, Saint Greenwald who is never wrong, informed us "the problem is that the CIA told the US media to tell you it knew that Putin was saying and deciding" And it was a fraud cos Prez wasn't saying what Prez was saying.

3) Leftists will play their usual electoral terrorism: both-side and smear Democrats, push for policies unpopular outside +40 blue areas, and paradoxically blame any Dem loss on not going far left enough.

An appeal to normalcy from somebody who clearly wants to launch a national campaign. Just a few caveats: Maduro is not a "head of state" or a President, he was an illegal occupier of the Venezuelan government. And did she mention Ukraine?

I noticed this since he started ranting about Venezuelan insane asylums. Trump sufferes from severe psychological disorders, being corrected is traumatic and unnaceptable for him. Which is why his acolytes repeat the same insane claims.

American tech companies are not truly concerned about censorship, as they happily operate in countries with strict regulations. You never hear the Trump administration complain about Saudi Arabia, Russia, or China. This is about bullying Europe, nothing more

It's a historic wealth/power grab around Trump: crypto scams, legacy media deals, foreign policy replaced by personal deals (Russia/Witkoff, Qatar bribes), free trade replaced with protection money to avoid tariffs, AI bubble, more corporate tax cuts.

I see, so the politicians ("the establishment") that regularly flipped red seats need to be voted out. And the ones that have never flipped a seat (populist/progressive/leftist) need to lead.

I saw Jeffrey Sachs, famous Kremlin propagandist and notorious liar about Maidan and who knows what, submit a study about sanctions in Venezuela. There’s more, but as a Venezuelan, this is frankly exhausting…

“which were used to fund the coup attempt — and enrich leading figures from the corrupt Venezuelan opposition.” Since they didn’t steal the assets there was no funding of anything or anybody with these frozen assets.

“The US and its European allies then proceeded to freeze and steal billions of dollars worth of Venezuelan government assets” They froze their assets. They did not steal them.

“despite the fact that he had never participated in a presidential election.” Guaido was elected as Speaker of the House. If Trump/Vance are holding office unconstitutionally, the Speaker becomes interim President. Same in Vzla. That is the law. Ben Norton never reads so he just makes shit up.

Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 13/12/2025
“... as the so-called “interim president” of Venezuela,” Guaido was the president de jure according to the Constitution of the Republic of Venezuela, Art. 233, 333 and 350. Not "declared himself president". Not a CIA plant. By the law of the land.

“In 2019, Washington appointed the unelected right-wing opposition figure Juan Guaidó” Juan Guaido is a Social Democrat. A center-left politician. Ben is a Marxist propagandist, not a journalist.

“What does Machado hope to do if the US manages to put her in power?” He keeps saying put her in power. How? The President-elect of Venezuela is Edmundo Gonzalez. Machado is not an elected official. What is Ben smoking?

Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 13/12/2025
“she vowed that, if the US can successfully put her in power in Caracas, Machado would form a close alliance with the US and Israel against Iran and the Palestinian people.” She declared a posture against Iran (they are fleecing Vzla of resources), not Palestine.

“genocidal Israeli regime has refused to recognize... constitutional, internationally recognized President Nicolás Maduro" Maduro’s constitutional term ended in Jan 2019 (2018 elections were illegal and unconstitutional). He stole the 2024 election. Zero democracies recognize Maduro.

Yeah I have thoughs. This article was written by Ben Norton, an anti-US/West ideologue and not a serious reporter: "María Corina Machado is a far-right Venezuelan... " She is not. There is no "far right" in Vzla as people in the US/Europe know it. SocDem Juan Guaido was also called "far right".

I'll check it but the title is discouraging. Vzlans, like Ukrainians, coddle to Trump because they need support to survive an existential crisis. They don't care if it's President Trump or AOC providing the help. Ideological purity is a "luxury belief" and doesn't mean they support genocide.

Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 13/12/2025
You're also correct in that while Chavez was an extremely charismatic political genius and no doubt popular, Maduro is an idiot. Chavez used state power/resources to suppress votes and buy support (elections were never "fair" under chavismo), BUT afaik he never outright stole a vote like Maduro did.
010
Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 13/12/2025
Yes, Chavez was VERY popular until around 2004 and somewhat popular until 2010. He did good things like the "Misiones" (literacy and health programs). In 2007 he lost the election to change the Constitution and started ruling by edict, consolidating power, and destroying all democratic institutions.

Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 12/12/2025
Correct. Vzla over-relies on oil. It became insanely rich during certain foreign wars 1950s-90s. Corruption and mismanagement followed. During Chavez oil revenue surpassed 40 prior years COMBINED. Obscene corruption and worse mismanagement followed. Econ collapsed by 2014. US sanctions came in 2019.

Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 12/12/2025
The "regime change" critique harks to US LATAM policy from 40+ years ago and recent Mideast trauma. But some regimes HAVE TO change (Putin, Maduro). Vzla was a modern, democratic Republic, not Iraq or a collection of warring tribes like AFG. "Regime change" in Vzla means restoring the Republic.

Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 12/12/2025
I don't know how MAduro will leave, if ever. Obviously not through elections (he's held to power unconstitutionally since 2019). But if he leaves, there will be elections in Vzla, just as they had during the Republic of Venezuela (10 Presidents in 40+ years).

Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 12/12/2025
I said worst case because the worst of neoliberalist economics is the crisis that precipitated chavismo. And yet, Vzlans yearns to go back to that, which is much better than the last 25 years of chavismo.

This isolationist idiocy ends the moment we realize there is no one else to trade with cuz the world went to shit and national budgets are dedicated to war/defense, shipping lanes and unsafe, or we have a national disaster or threat and no one to help us because we are the world's selfish assholes.

In 32 years of witnessing the horror that is westerner's opinions on Vzla, I have seen a total of ONE author and one Youtube video with an educated enough take. Everybody else is the typical "choose your own adventure," injecting their pet theories and ideologies into other countries.
000
Antonio Torres @antonio-torres.bsky.social · 12/12/2025
Worst case, Vzla goes back to the 4th Republic neoliberal status quo - 40 years of relative democratic stability pre-Chavismo. "Fifty-fifty" foreign/domestic benefits was already in the Constitution. This is better than the current Stalinist regime and China, Russia, and Iran fleecing the country.

She has been an opposition leader for 15 years. Extremely brave woman. She's welcoming whichever US admin helps Venezuela get rid of Maduro, which unfortunately includes Trump's den of oligarchs. Dems didn't even attend the Nobel ceremony. Leftists are happy that Maduro stole the election.
