Someone asked on reddit which businesses are actually thriving in this economy. 600+ replies. I read through them, and the pattern is not what tech people want to hear. Almost every winner had 2 things in common.

Getting my first 10 PostHero customers was easy. They came from content, back when I had 400 followers. Getting the next 100 to pay is the hard part. Reach isn't my problem anymore. Turning trials into paying users is. Funny how the challenge completely changes once the first one's solved.

I've lived in this new area of Bali for 2 months now. It's the happiest I've been here since 2020. It made me realize how much the place you live and work actually matters. For me it's 2 things: nature and good infrastructure. I need both.

My non-negotiables as a founder in Bali: • 3+ gym sessions a week • At least 1 cardio (working up to 2-3) • A 10-min rice field walk every morning • Lunch with friends 3+ times a week Building matters. But none of it works if I don't protect these first.

Social media scheduling is one of the worst niches to build a startup in. So I've spent the last few years building Posthero in it. It's one of the oldest, most crowded categories in SaaS. Buffer and Hootsuite have been around for over a decade. There are hundreds of tools.

A year ago I changed how I run my business. Short term, I lost money doing it. Here's the biggest shift I made: • I cut way down on calls • I dropped several LinkedIn content clients, on purpose • I stopped taking 10pm calls just because the US was awake • I keep my evenings free

Spent Sunday in the recovery zone at my gym. Sauna, pool, repeat. Somewhere between rounds I opened my laptop and did a bit of work. Honestly? Epic. This is the routine I want. Not stuck in an office, just working from wherever feels good that day. Building a startup + working from wherever = 🖤

My life in Bali is boring on paper: • Up early, rice field walk, no phone • Deep work on PostHero while the US and Europe sleep • Lunch with founders building real things • Gym, padel, or volleyball most afternoons • Same small circle of friends • In bed early, genuinely happy about it

Last weekend I rode enduro in Bali. Black volcanic sand, then straight into the jungle. It got real fast. One guy in our group lost the bike on a turn and nearly went off a cliff. He stopped just short of the edge. Genuinely scary moment.

The best thing I did this year was making Sunday boring. No calls, no launches, no catching up on work I avoided during the week. Just rest, and one hour of planning. Everything else got easier after that.
