He spent nearly $600 for a lifetime membership on WhiteDate. Over 4 years, he sent over 1000 messages, a fraction of a percentage of which received a response. Josiah Patton never found a girlfriend, much less a wife, much less multiple wives, much less a stable of teenage virgin maidens.

Like many men who are enraged by their own celibacy, Josiah Patton fantasized about rape & sexual slavery as solutions to his lack of sexual success: “It is worth remembering that the most masculine act is RAPE…and the most feminine act is absolute submission or being a love slave of one man.”

Immediately following the Tumbler Ridge shooting until days after, an incredible amount of content was posted to social media from far-right actors and outlets. This content overwhelmingly focused on the transgender identity of the shooter.

It is the opinion of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network that the demonstrated rush by some individuals and entities to demonize all transgender people did not, and does not, help the victims’ loved ones, the survivors, the town of Tumbler Ridge, or the country heal.

Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 30/06/2026

The decision by Rebel Media to slap their watermark on it and share it may not have been very smart. It means that the version shared by Rebel can be traced back to Rebel, when it's widely held that attackers cite past attacks and manifestos as inspiration.

Every analysis of this manifesto (and every manifesto) needs to include an important caveat – this is how its author wanted to portray things. It is a curated account intended for public consumption. It is not a complete explanation of his life, his motives, or why he moved from belief to action END
1334
Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 25/06/2026
The manifesto gives instructions for future acts of terrorism. While there is a public interest in understanding, to have an important discussion, and inform prevention, republishing it in full is incredibly dangerous and irresponsible because we know today's manifestos inspire tomorrow's attacks.
1293
Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 25/06/2026
The shooter believed that stopping women from working would coerce every woman into a forced monogamous relationship for their own survival, thereby fulfilling the needs of “common men.” His solution is authoritarian. Murders. Secret police. Executions. Taking away people’s freedoms.
1272
Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 25/06/2026
One aspect we haven’t seen discussed is the author denying the existence of transgender people, claiming it is “self-mutilation” and a reaction to men’s unfulfilled need for women. He says this is validated by women and capitalist elites because it eliminates unexceptional men from the gene pool.
1253
Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 25/06/2026
Content creators that blame this attack on communism (or far-right) ideology are way over simplifying and end up covering up the serious underlying and primary theme of violence towards women in this manifesto.
1343
Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 25/06/2026
While the manifesto has the hallmarks of a mixed and unstable authoritarian ideology, it very clearly begins and ends with misogyny and a feeling of entitlement towards women that he explains (and in his mind solves) with authoritarian and communist ideas.
1292
Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 25/06/2026
The shooter says that capitalists want women in the workforce and that under a capitalist culture there has been feminism, women’s rights, and sexual degeneracy, which need to be corrected, and that “common men” have been numbed to the unfair situation with things like drugs and pornography.
1251
Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 25/06/2026
He says that women will only use "common men," and that women having the economic and social freedom to choose their partners is the problem. This is incel ideology. He blames this situation on capitalism, using communist ideas, and has authoritarian solutions.
2384
Canadian Anti-Hate Network @antihate.ca · 25/06/2026
It is fair to characterize the shooter as an incel. He writes that women only being attracted to “favoured men” based largely on height and face shape is a fixed biological reality. He says that “common men” can never expect to be treated well by women.
