Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 2hBelgian media are celebrating the Nobel Prize in Physics awarded to a Belgian-born scientist. Unfortunately none of his key research was carried out in Belgium, not even Europe. And then we're cutting funding to fundamental research. What's there to celebrate? 231
Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 29/08/2026I have it on my radar, but the guided tours are too far into the future for me to make it :( sounds like a dream though 030

Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 10/07/2026I like that it cools down well at night. Still, the heat is starting to get trapped inside buildings, and starting from this weekend it won't cool down as much anymore :-( alas 010
Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 01/06/2026Ik had dezelfde bedenking. Lijkt alsof energie-gerelateerde woorden in het Duits moeten, als een soort traditie! Bizar 020

Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 20/03/2026In the Belgian case there should be a waffle iron involved. Every other week we swap the rules. And then on weekends we can use German if we're feeling generous 110
Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 04/03/2026Found an interesting journal article to read today, but it's in Swedish. I don't speak Swedish. Let's read it anyway and see what sticks :-) 010

Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 10/02/2026For Flemish speakers, French has a lot of connotations, especially given the historical linguistic struggle. I'd say French words are only accepted without issue in some specific contexts (like car parts) 010

Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 18/11/2025I think it's important to leave most of the agency to students themselves. I could run the regular expressions for them using a Python script, but then they wouldn't be able to iterate on their results. Let *them* figure out whether they're happy with their output! 020
Anthe Sevenants @anthe.sevenants.net · 18/11/2025My students were having issues with the "improved" version of AntConc not recognising their regular expressions correctly. I spent some time building "ANTHEconc", and sure enough, it works. 250
