i dont think your definition necessarily makes animal conscious, nor does it make claude not conscious. the more i read this, the more i think it doesn't actually say anything

Announcing RimWorld update 1.7! It moves the game from Unity to Waylith, our in-house engine, and runs 2-4x faster in our tests. Try it now on the unstable beta. Oh, and RimWorld isn’t the only game on Waylith... Read on Steam: store.steampowered.com/news/app/294100/view/672882362547178633

While i agree most people invested heavily into being special, and AI doing thinnking and abstracting as a self, is upsetting to them, i like approaching these things with a bit of good faith. Like i haven't seen anyone actually specify what are we trying to solve with this limitation...

to be fair, it could respond in the non-personal way like "PR created and submitted" I just don't understand what is there to gain by regulating like this? Other than cutting the access to 90% of frontier models in EU... It's like regulating hammers always be tied to your vest so they can't fall.

If someone doesn't understand that they are talking with a bot because it uses "I", they are the problematic part of that interaction.

or mby software will just go post scarcity, and the idea that you can sell files like that, was always a lie sustained only by our collective imagination.

okay, you say that, but how else would the president of the united states be able to sell the broadcasting rights to a public executcion? Because that will absolutely happen now...

To be honest this sounds like a skill issue. Outside of very specific niches, recent models are just good enough to get most work done.

I asked claude to forward some sonnet sessions to haiku in a project of mine, it looks like it can handle easy game dev bugfixes and adjustments. I feel like sonnet as a default, haiku for easy stuff, and opus for hard stuff, is the meta, for maximizing the sub value.

funny thought experiment: do you trust the humans at the top of the frontier labs, to proceed with caution, more than if fable or astra was calling the shots there?

The way we are dealing with ai makes me really look forward to when we probe the false vacuum.

to be fair, i like to think about it as fancy autocomplete, because, at least for me, it is a better description of how the bots do their magic. But yea, sadly a lot of people are just completely blinded by hate towards people like musk. (obviously i do hate him as well, as everyone should)

Buying a perfectly working device, that is cheaper than your neighbours, is not telling the story buyer wants to be telling. And when you sell story, device is secondary. Features are not about utility, but about "the optimum price is X, how can we justify it?"

My least liked part of that is the part where the number needs to be bigger than your competitor, otherwise the stupids will think it's worse. Mby if they create a bot smart enough it will tell them to stop...

Here is my prediction for game dev and AI: The backlash will grow, until few good high profile games made using a ton of AI get viral. Then we will have the 2 week shitstorm, and it will be over.

I am recently wondering how the game engines will evolve in response to AI code. Game engine's are generally all about reusing a lot of hard work, but are themselves complex tools, with many UX issues Is unity / godot even a good abstraction for an agent?

funny thing that happens with LLMs is that you can ask it to do things that humans are generally too lazy to do. Like writing a post-session summary and using it to self-iterate your setup and generally use the beurocracy and processes, in a way that could never work for humans.

Okay, since the "everyone needs to have a job" is going to have to be reevaluated anyway, can we look into the insane waste that is marketing? Companies spending double digit percentage on ad arms race, was always stupid, and it's time we reclaim those hours and dedicate them for something better

with how the micro-scale AI is going, i think we will start to see VERY fun things happen in indie game dev. I could totally see a small dev fine tuning custom small 2b model, for the player to be able to command a squad of soldiers by shouting bullshit.

Leaders have a responsibility to guide people they lead through crisis, in a way that helps everyone deal with sometimes painful changes. Everyone should be able to trust the person in charge, to figure things out. One of the worst things about trump, is that he made that sound absurd.

whenever someone says "AI can solve our hardest problems" i imagine it saying "get the fucking solar panels down, what do you mean YOU BURN COAL FOR POWER?!, it's not 18th century you STUPID apes!!!!, so you're telling me you invented trains, and just stopped building them?! WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?!"

They compared the x-box numbers, to the mobile game numbers where whales spend 20$ per hour on some f2p games, and decided, that it's undermonetized. Last 5 years of calamities in mainstream gaming, can all be traced, to how insanely profitable mobile games are.

We should leverage the usa backlash to datacenters, to get them build in EU, and have the US tech rely on European infrastructure.

Fable 5.1 feels like a huge upgrade compared to 5 No loadbearing changes in my codebase anymore...

if @anthropic.com included a fast and cheap model, that's well behaved and decent enough, and better models like fable could just delegate some stuff to it, it would be such an upgrade to the sub. Claude models are slow, all of them. Just one fastboi plz

Ansambel @ansambel.bsky.social · 27/08/2026
i like the vibe of that, but i think a dedicated datacenter for this will always outcompete a basement on price, robustness and basically everything else. A company like Hetzner that allows you to have an actual server with actual inference capacity, aviable to you or to your company, would be great
