Will OSF make private files public automatically after mid Nov?? I was reading @dalmeet.bsky.social 's piece in Nature on the changes on OSF and was triggered by this sentence; am I misunderstanding something here? This can't be the case, can it? @briannosek.bsky.social

We’re at the end of #MSMR2026 which has been superb. It’s a ‘first’ such symposium and my main criticism is the talks have been too engaging, making it difficult to plan a mental switch off. See what you missed out on here crsuzh.pages.uzh.ch/msmr/program/

Doing reproducibility checks for Psych Science is probably one of the most frustrating as well as one of the most rewarding things I spend my time on Playing detective to find the reported results in mountains of output proves very difficult every time 1/2

But on the upside, the only way I was able to zero in on the mistakes was because the authors shared code. Without that, I would have just been surprised and confused. Share your code! It makes the world a better place.

A brave and tough call to make. It's hard to overstate how influential OSF has been on science in the past ~15 years. It's been such a staple that you'd almost forget how much cost, time, and effort it must be to keep going. Kudos to the OSF team for everything they've done.

Any tips on a data structure to use when wanting to evaluate agreement between multiple coders (3/4) that coded multiple variables (~15)? I made a big df with a column per var per coder and a column that gives TRUE/FALSE about the agreement between the coders per var, but it is... messy...

Any good resources on reproducing the R environment of somewhat old code? There's material on how to make your code reproducible, but little I can find about how to reproduce code written in an older R version, with old packages etc. Sounds easy, but seeing more errors than I would like

Anouk Bouma @anoukbouma.bsky.social · 26/02/2026
For basic reproducibility sharing sessionInfo() output is sometimes recommended But I can't find a function to automatically install the right package version (let alone R vers) Do you install them by hand? Write own code to install automatically? Seems cumbersome for output that is standardized

I've talked about this with some of the developers here at the Bennett Institute over the years and they don't think CC is a great fit for code and while MIT isn't perfect, it does the job better. Honestly, we probably need some legal minds to come up with a new license type for open science usage.

Anouk Bouma @anoukbouma.bsky.social · 23/02/2026
On Github, the CC by 4.0 International license is not one of the standard options when creating a repository. Does anyone know why that is? Is the MIT license more appropriate for code somehow? Permission to sell seems so strange to me... But I know rather little about licensing #helpmechoose

Are there studies on the relation between the replication crisis and the trust that (psychology) researchers have in their research and the research conducted in their field? Most papers I find focus on the trust of laypeople, but I am wondering about researchers themselves in the crisis' context
