And might take Emma time of course, but she was pretty heavy in rotation early, and it's the player type you give time to. Wish I could edit.

I think the flexibility if phee left allows for great 6th player - but I'm also not ready to give up on Dorka or Maya who is such a net positive on defense.

This year? Yeah tough recipe. I think that's why they had to move to scouting too - draft picks are not high enough generally to compensate. It definitely helps with league parity though. But I'm not arguing with 2024/5 results. Those benches were great, and now are starters bc of FA/expansion.

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 3h
But I'm not a fan that agonizes over it. It will create a new look. Could be exciting. Phee back would be great though. But yeah, it's not going to be the 21 year old 2nd round pick, nor would I expect it.

6 new bench players, they focused on their development a lot and it still needs work, agree. Everyone agrees. Nia could likely start in that case, unless Cheryl finds a 4 she would like as much. Kosu backing her up is fun. But, whew, that would be a lot cash to build. I want phee back

Not many of the 2023-2025 2nd and third round draft picks are filling bench minutes and production, are they? What top tier teams have developed like this? When I think of the best benches, its intl players and the Valkyries through expansion but I could be blanking.

I misread what you meant by "valued." And invested. If that means playing in games, no argument. I took it as something else (development on a roster, rehab on a roster, 3 years as a rotational piece without really finding the right space)

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 7h
And for a "coach that doesn't care about rookies" Emma stayed to rehab!! Ola Kosu is becoming a demon. There's a good core of youth for not having high draft picks.

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 8h
Dorka wasn't with the Lynx last year, but she's had a lot of time to develop. That's why I asked what you meant by "investment." Because if you mean that the rookies we have don't produce,ok. I guess.

That should say "but" - what a different message. I AM enjoying your work @thefrankiedlc.news

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 13h
Awesome, really looking forward to it not enjoying the rest of your work in the mean time!

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 13h
Was it @thefrankiedlc.news that had a piece on this (not yet published?) or did I dream that?
110
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 15h
Yeah, there's a ton of that and have to be careful of those that hate women's basketball (and women) and not conflate the issue. There's also a big "Stan" contingent that are heinous to certain rookies teammates (wings!) - none of that happens in person-and they are just making it hard on athletes

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 17h
Jump to defensiveness and arguments about online trolls. It's happening in real life, and it's why you see (imo) such aggressive responses.
210
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 17h
This seems to be a pattern, and not a case of a one-off because of Minnesota's proximity to Iowa - like all levels, people have been emboldened - and a lot of men (not saying you, but it's common) are defensive of their enjoyment of Clark and the Fever, and rather than listening

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 17h
I'm not excusing real life "fans," I want to be clear. They have been at lynx games slinging homophobic & racial slurs toward players and even toward fans. There are way too many stories of this in other buildings too; I just know fans that feel threatened, and I believe them
110
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Heard, appreciate this-this is all I'm looking for. I think for W fans, and women, it gets to a point we'd like to see more fever fans go on the offense for the "club" that built this league rather than a victim mentality.
110
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Yeah, because you said you were a fever fan and didn't care? And given your expressed virtue in the next post, I thought it worth challenging WHY people think there's an issue? There are much more engaging teams than the fever with far better storylines. How's that

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
The organization doesn't want to rock the boat with its conservative fans, and it's shutting out "actual basketball fans" that "were in the club" as a result.
300
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Cool. That probably, definitely means it wasn't about the fever then! Yes, toxic fans exist. Please read back where I place blame on the organization and implore the OP not to ignore the emerging pattern that has been pointed out by fans (even fever), players, and teammates.

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Kelsey Mitchells exit interview AB has said it, Chelsea grays online threats, Alyssa Thomas, dewanna bonner. Jackie Young, Allisha Gray,Angel Reese. There's a lot of indication that organization isn't protecting or doing its best by its players, and that likely includes Caitlin.

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Paige is vocally pro-black and is queer. Her fans and organization can not thrust her into that space because she won't fit. I have no idea what you mean by uconn club. They make good professional players. So do Notre Dame, South Carolina.
200
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Everywhere - BUT there's a pattern. A pattern that did not happen with Paige. Have you ever wondered why? The confessional republicans never opened up an investigation about any other players court incident.
100
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
That are homophobic & racist? They run 20 year STH out of their seats. And I'm sorry to be cynical, these investigations do not consider players, they take no time, and look at where they sit. I never said shit about Caitlin clark. The organization has mismanaged their response. Toxic fans exist
100
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I'm asking you this sincerely: do you know how often and how hyper vigilant players are in that building? Have you heard from players who have left the organization, considered what KM said about it? Do you know that many Minnesota fans sell their tickets to avoid interactions with fever fans
100
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Of the org not holding the players accountable and even courting the type of attention that they & Caitlin introduced. But you certainly will not beat allegations by dismissing the league, the word of players and fans from the demo that made this league & saying it's only worth it if she's playing
100
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I reread, and I really think you should rethink this. If you mean what you say, you can be both a fan of the fever and acknowledge that they've played a game by attracting and ignoring the toxic fans. I feel awful for long-time fever fans. But you shouldn't be surprised that W fans are tired

Was most scared of your team last year! (And consensus is we are pretty much rooting for them this year!)

I want a Dream vs GSV - I don't think they faced each other since ATL figured it out.
010
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
The game plan can exist; the players have to execute. It was very difficult to do so. This is a credit to New York who executed very well. I'm not sure what poor moves you mean and that's fine. I'm ready to credit new York, you're saying it's on the coaching staff. 🤷‍♀️

I believe it, in some spaces for some time (most of them don't overlap with people I follow). I don't personally conflate injuries with one play. We also needed Carrington imo, and most fans do not think Phee was herself after the first ankle.
000
Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
This is so silly. Everyone thought they'd be a bubble playoff team - a season plagued with injuries. Lynx met their worst matchup in the first round, at a time when things were breaking down for mn and coming together for Ny. NY's game plan worked and we didn't expose their weakness effectively.

This is totally different from hating Stewie's whistle, lol. Which, yes, I'm both impressed and hate.

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
The lynx fans I know blame 2024's final minute of regulation on the refs. 2025? Nope. They fell apart and gave up a 20 point lead and injuries to two key players were devastating. 2026? A lot of have been thinking about their lack of pace and breakdowns in the past month.

Amanda @anotheramanda.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
It hurts my feelings (kidding). But it's not going to get picked up seriously by lynx fans if you do that.

My main take away is everyone watches women's sports (at least klob caught on quickly -everyone else was 3 minutes behind)

I am the teen boy getting cooked by 14-year old Olivia Miles in a 2x3 match. She hits the cutter with a pass between my legs and then on the other end calls a travel on me. The coach talks in a monotone about the importance of court vision. I crawl in a hole to hide away from the light forever

I saw the author's post or I might feel the same. I did enjoy the reasoning "two of these unreal rookies are guards," and all set up was reflection on Miles's season, but she was breaking Clark's records so comparison felt apt. But I get it - the conclusion is Clark's the better rookie too.

So if a defense can effectively shut down passing lanes and guard actions, they win? What.a.concept. Not defending and unsuccessfully defending are two different things. Two or three teams have the personnel to do it and often can't do it for 40 minutes.

Are you talking about the CBS article? I thought the headline did it a pretty big disservice.
