🌞🌕 #SolisEtLunae Circenses! 28 Aug. #Romans celebrated #Sol & #Luna at #CircusMaximus. Their temple, an "old shrine" by #Tacitus' day, overlooked the track. Sol rode a quadriga drawn by 4 horses, Luna a biga, often depicted drawn by 2 oxen.. Sun & moon marked the sowing & harvest seasons.
