Tawny owls are calling outside tonight. When I was young I thought I'd never ever see an owl but I've seen tawny, barn, little, long-eared, short-eared and snowy in Scotland. Seeing an Eagle owl would be cool. Stay optimistic. #autumn #nature #owls 🍂 🦉

I planted this buddleia outside my old office over 20 years ago and while no-one looks after it now, at least it's still appreciated by myself when I visit, as well as my flutterby pals 🦋 #nature #butterflies #biodiversity #greeningtheworkplace

A young pup came crashing into my tent at 2am, all alone. Sent report to Police and got him to the local vet at 9am and he's just been reunited with his owner. His microchip hadn't been updated, which would have helped. Anyway glad he's home now.

Anyone caring for older relatives, here's a hug. But from a hedgehog because I'm not wanting any huggy crap back. Alcohol, yes.

I'm a lowland Scot, so it's taken a while but my first Highland games at Blairgowrie & Rattray was fantastic. I could totally get into caber tossing #blairgowrie #scotland #kilts

A male competitor in a kilt raising a caber vertically from the ground by hand. A caber is a slender tree trunk pole around 17ft or 5 metres in length

The caber is picked up at its base and held vertically, then the competitor runs forward and attempts to launch the pole into the air. The caber should summersault once and land perfectly aligned with the direction of the run.

There's a man wearing a kilt with his arms in the air. Above him in mid air is a 17ft tree trunk. This is some of the best entertainment you'll ever witness in Highland Scotland, whilst sober anyway.

You're not 'capturing a special moment' when you're filming every song at a gig. You're too addicted to your phone to leave it alone for a couple of hours and simply enjoy the experience.

Another night in the wild. Couldn't get comfortable once I woke at 4.30am but it was completely silent until the first crows started cawing #camping #leavenotrace

Responsible summer wild camping in Scotland. A small tent with a tarpaulin shelter over the top is pitched on flat vegetated ground, with shrubs and small trees close by. In the distance are tall sand dunes. The sky is overcast with clouds but some blue sky can be seen.

Women Are Not Safe Around Men

This is a fact. The data is unambiguous and the solutions exist. The only thing missing is the will to act.

There's a heatwave coming, especially in the South East of England, lovely for sunbathing difficult for wildlife. Please put clean water out daily for passing wildlife if you can, it makes a huge difference. Bird baths or pots or bowls, high and low, stones in them help insects that fall in escape.
