Citizen science can be great at filling knowledge gaps in species-rich but poorly known areas In Melanesia, frog records from iNaturalist extended known distributions of 15 species to previously unknown locations & provided the 1st public images of several others 🧪🌏🐸 www.publish.csiro.au/pc/PC24063
Map of frog observation locations in Melanesia. The image shows 2 maps, both showing the New Guinea and surrounding islands. The top map show red dots across Melanesia, the bottom map instead uses multiple pie charts to show the taxonomic breakdown of observations into major frog subfamilies in different areas6 images of frogs in Melanesia. The frogs on the top row are small, brown and bumpy. The frogs in the second row, on the left is whitish orange/pink with distinct reddish mups on its back, and on the right a bright green frog with a white belly. The frog on the bottom left is yellowish and thin with a long "nose". The frog on the bottom left looks like moss, and is a mix of black, red and forest green, quite bumpy.
